Who would be interested in attending a Cobra R reunion in 2019? I'm thinking we piggy back with another event. There are a couple of SCMC events at VIR (trakc and show), a SAAC event at Beaver run (trackand show), Northwoods Shelby event at Road America (track event) or we could do a weekday event at Gingerman followed up with a car show at Woodward Dream Cruise and Ford HQ. I could also look into one of the MCA driving events as well.

If you're interested in attending one please provide the order of interest and what year car you would bring and what you would be interested in as far as track/show/both.

Now that I have a car hauler trailer, I could possibly attend. It would depend on my work schedule and distance from TX. I have a 00R.

I’m interested. Will likely bring my 95 unless I purchase my 00 by then. Don’t really care where it is as my work schedule will dictate attendance. I would plan to race as long as the weather is nice.

MCA has their Anniversary Event in Topeka, KS in July. Track and Show. That is the only track/show event on MCA's calendar for 2019. Plan the event with others input. If I am able to attend, it will be with the #47.

I like this idea... it is more centrally located making for an easier drive for all those states around it. If it’s near a coastline, it’s harder for more people to get there.

I was looking at this event, waiting on the confirm dates but it looks like it would be the last weekend in July (base off event calendar at Topeka) and would love it to be a Cobra R reunion. I did a MCA track event at Indianapolis and the people that run the track event for MCA are great people and in great control to make things run smoothly.

It appears the MCA event in Topeka is July 21st and 22nd at Heartland Park. Heartland Park calendar for the road course track has Kaw Valley Race Group that weekend.
Just an FYI.
Would still be in to go.

Mark,
I think I last saw you at Autobahn at that Cobra R Reunion event (it was with NASA)? I'd be interested in attending one in 2019.

I sold my truck and trailer so I'd have to drive the car; so VIR works well for me. I'd love to get back to Road America if I could arrange to share truck trailer space with other cars.

BTW, I read that they have a Hans-type device for tracks days for some of us without a rollbar and harness.

You guys should consider Pittsburgh PA. As was mentioned, this year the SAAC event is at Pitt Race (formerly Beaver Run) near Pittsburgh in July.

National News

This year, the SAAC convention is getting combined with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix which is a massive and amazing event. For this year’s PVGP, the Marque (feature car) is Shelby and Mustang so we expect a big turnout. The PVGP has events that span 10 days. Amazing cars, car shows with over 3000 cars of all kinds, and great racing. Check it out at

2019 Race Week Calendar -

All PVGP proceeds go to our charities...the Pittsburgh Autism Society and the Allegheny Valley School (a wonderful school and living facility for mentally handicapped children and adults ). The PVGP is an incredible event with something for everybody. Once you attend you’ll want to return every year.

I'd rather just donate money than go to Pittsburgh.

There is no real race track there.

Our charities would certainly be thankful for your donation. Last year alone we raised $410k for them.

But why the hate on the Pitt Race complex? It is absolutely a nice track. Nearly 3 miles long with lots of elevation changes and a variety of turns. Lots of paved paddock area and garage lots if needed. Some amazing cars race there and don’t seem to complain about it.

I've been there before. It's actually in Wampum, PA and a series of small little tracks. It's not known as a good track except for the local guys.

I can go up 100 miles to Watkins Glen which is the best track in the NE. VIR is just ~200 miles south.

When was the last time that you raced at Road Atlanta? They have the Petit Le Mans here. It's another internationally known track.

Thanks for the geography lesson. Of course I know the track is in Wampum, PA. But that wouldn’t help other folks, would it? Wampum is tiny and nobody except locals and racers would know where it is.

I’m happy you have great track options relatively close to you. There aren’t many tracks of that caliber in the country.

SAAC is at Pitt Race this year. The PVGP will be there also. For those of you considering attending or racing, I highly recommend it.
