well I got my offer letter today I start March 4th, I will be the team lead for this job starting out at $130,000 a year with a $13,000 yearly bonus. Fulltime work from home but I need to fly out to Palo Alto for 1 day for on boarding then go home and work from home. I am a bit nervous but a bit happy too for the $38,000 raise without the bonus. B
onus is paid out 80% on how I do and 20% on how my team does. New life event change that is for sure. The manager is very happy since I worked for him before and he is a great guy. I hope it all goes well.

Are you confident in your skillset?
Do you think you worked your way to this position?
Are you good enough to handle the task ahead of you? .

If you answered yes to all 3, stop worrying

Yes I am very confident in my skill set been doing this for like close to 30 years
Yes I worked my way up and evolved with the current technology and got it down.
Yes I can handle the task I have done this job before and I can do it again.

No reason to be nervous unless you get into it and find out you're over your head or something.
Exactly. Only thing to be nervous about is if they flat out lied to you and the place is a raging shit show. See that plenty of times.

If your worried about "doing the job", we'll... Did you fib on the interview and resume? Don't do that.

No, I have done this job for them before. The Manager who I worked for then reached out to me in January looking for a ICM scripting guy, he knows I can do ICM scripting and he knows what I can do, now they want me to work on ICM and Avaya, I have 14 years of Avaya under my belt so I can do that to. The Manager I will report to knows me well and knows my work, so I did not fib at all on my interview or what I do know. I will be reporting to the same guy I did when I worked there a long time ago. I never burn bridges in IT, I have kept in contact with him over the years telling him what I have been doing, I always keep in contact with my previous managers just to keep the relationship alive and good, this time it worked in my favor.

The company is getting a deal with you working from home. Median home price in PA is like $1million. Need close to $250k a year for living wage in that area.

I wouldn’t sweat starting your new job.

If it's just general nervousness about "the unknown," then it will pass in time. Give it a few weeks until you've established a new rhythm. We find comfort in familiarity, even if it's painful familiarity (life lesson for me!)

If you're nervous for other reasons, you need to consider each one separately and determine what will help. I'm in a very similar boat- just started a new job last Monday.

So, I had a 4-day-long panic attack last week while on a trip up to NY (not due to the company I now work for, so far everyone has been great - panic due to massive change all at once). I had a lot of time to read articles on this topic. Here are some good ones to read through. Much of these focus on the "nervous about ability" topic, but I believe you and I are more nervous about the giant change all at once:

Plus I have to give a shout out to @Revvv who has been extremely encouraging over the last year. Not trying to derail the thread, but my life has changed massively since this time last year when I felt like I was spiraling down a toilet. A lot of good people on here.

You have this covered. Nothing at all to be nervous about.
