I contacted AFS around November of last year. They made it seem as if they still made the wheels, but they are holding off due to quantity and demand...

Boggles my mind people would waste money on factory style aftermarket wheels. If your switching out, switch it up. So many gorgeous wheels out there and it seems like domestic guys only know 4 styles of wheel.

Don't worry it boggles my mind the number of guys that have $3K in rims but still on the stock eaton.

It just has to look fast. Hahaha

You are just across the river from me. We need to grab lunch or coffee at some point.

If you ever head out to Jackson to put that beast you have through its paces let me know.

So if you are all about performance, then why you wasting $1500 on some heavy ass cast wheels that are going to make your car perform worse?

Thanks for your efforts.
I bought the 4 new and last produced 18x10.5 Chrome wheels for my Teal ‘93 Cobra project.
I actually plan to sell 2 of them or trade for perfect 18x9 fronts or just narrow these to 8.5”
From what’s posted above, AFS would like to off load the mold. I’d love to see these made lighter with the new spun forged process.
I understand upgrading a wheel design, but I ran AFS 18s on my 2004 and it’s a beautiful wheel. For guys that want a subtle upgrade and keep factory design language while increasing performance, it’s a slam dunk.
If anyone has interest in 2 brand new 18x10.5s, or has mint 18x9s please PM me.

I like this idea, shed some weight would be ideal.

I am kind of leaning towards the stock look as then its super easy to swap to 17x10.5 rears with a good tire and 18x9's up front so you can run a better front brake kit. Win in my books.

I think I more like the idea of how easy chrome is to clean. Polished looks amazing, but not one says how much time is spent cleaning them

Never said anyone was. I did not mean to imply that nice wheels are bad. I just see a huge number of guys saying they wish they were faster. They say that they can't afford a twin screw or TVS. Then drops $3K on wheels.

I wish american muscle or LMR would start making them. My 10.5’s leak air because of chrome peel:( They don’t leak a whole lot but it’s noticeable.

High tack :)
Supposedly AFS would like to sell the mold, not sure why a bigger player like you mentioned wouldn’t jump at it.

LMAO!!! I love this debate! I take ZERO offense to what you said @GodStang. However, @Revvv is correct. For some of us the factory Cobra is fast enough, we prefer car shows and not the track and some of us just like to look good going down the road or parked.

I get it, the majority of Cobra owners are all about performance, but you're correct GodStang, some can only afford 3K in wheels and tires or 3K for a new supercharger.

I choose a 3K paint job personally LMAO!!!!

Spend your money on what you like fellas. You may beat me at the track, but I'll be parked at the car show anyway LMAO!!!

I mean no offense and just like to bust my friends balls about it cause I have quite a few that WANT a faster car and talk a year or two about getting a real blower and complain about not being able to afford a blower but when time comes they spend the money on flowmasters and CCWs. I see it a lot!

I am not against nice wheels and one day I will own 505a. I am not talking about the ones that don't want to go faster or the ones that already go fast. I am talking about the third group. In the end it's your money I just find it entertaining.

I love the look of the 18” cobra wheels. Ive had them in chrome and all black. Reason i got rid of them is the weight. They are insanely heavy. If they lightened the wheel and a proper offset i would buy a set. I always ran them with a 5/8” spacer out back.

Oh I get it. Like I said, I did not take offense to your comment nor do I feel you meant it to be offensive. You stated your observation. I'm cool with that.

There's all kinds of situations out there and some are very entertaining.

The one I find entertaining are the ones who spend all this money to make their cars fast. Then they take everything off, sell the car and sell the performance parts separately. What's the point? Guess they just like turning wrenches LOL.

And to get back on topic, I would not spend my money to gain an inch over stock LMAO!!!

Expectation verse reality.

By in large, the car hobby is just a "spend money and feel fancy" hobby.

Guys don't really "want" 800whp, they want to tell people they have 800whp and feel like they accomplished something.

I constantly think back to being a teen and it's like WTF. Back then a 250whp Fc3s (80's Rx7), a built 302 putting down 305whp or even juts a B18 swap Civic with 180hp-crank was shit your pants impressive.

Now I see a 500hp SCAT and I'm like "meh, pussy". 750whp GT500? So what.

I'm still trying to grasp how badass a set of CCW Cobra reps would be.
I've got a few sets of CCW's, original Cobra wheels, & some reps.
A set of CCW mirror polished Cobra reps would be THE wheel IMO.

LOL, that's true Corbic. 1000HP is the new level these days. I remember when I bought my 89GT in 1991. It had 225HP and a 5 speed. I thought I was fast LMAO!!! My 2015 V6 Dodge Challenger comes with 305HP from the factory.

I posted videos on YouTube of Friday night drag racing from 1991. Guys were running 12's and were considered fast back then. Nowadays you need to be in the 10's to even be looked at LOL. My, how times have changed.........
