Thinking about swapping out the GT500 for a 2016-17 C7Z with the A8. I feel like I've reached the point of diminished returns on mods for the GT500 unless I want to spend big bucks to pull and build the engine and the M6 just can't compete with the new auto cars. I have the Porsche for fun cruising in a sick car that used to be top dog on the streets. The 930 easily beats the GT500 in that department.

As far as Vettes... I know next to nothing about them. Cooling issues seem like a non issue for street and drag. Head issues seem to be easily dealt with with the basic mods anyway.

I like everything about the C7Z06 but the little 1.7L TVS. It should’ve been the 2.3L then it’d be the perfect Vette until the C7ZR1 came out. Power level could’ve remained the same it would’ve been great.

Pick your poison.

If you are considering a 2016 C7Z just make sure it has had the overheating, limp home mode problem ie* S/C heat soak fixed by the GM recall the 2017's was fixed so isn't involved in the recall. The A8 has no real problems that I know about as my father has had a 2016 Z51 and now has a 2015 Z51 Callaway both with the A8 trans. The only thing is when you drop below around 1500 RPM's it will drop to the next lowest gear automatically even in manual paddle shift mode. Unlike a manual where you can select a gear and it remains in it. But that is why you have a tach so as to not allow that to happen as you can click down a gear with the minus paddle.

I take it you are looking at the coupes and not the convertibles. if so you have just a slight blind spot behind you on both sides around 4-5 o clock passenger side and 7-8 for driver, just do a double take before changing lanes on any 2 lane roadway.

Im not saying dont consider a Z06.

But you would be best served to wait for the final pricing and specs of the 2020 GT500. Place a call to @13COBRA to see if he can work with you.

If you dont like the look of the 2020 GT500 or dont want to wait, I totally get it. But do yourself a favor brosef: Get into and out of a Corvette a few dozen times and see if you like it. Im short a/f and I hated getting into and out of every one that Ive sat in.

I'd consider it.. I'm looking into my next cruiser car now.. Whipple has a 2.9L for it as well. Throw a 2.9 on it and it would be nuts. I drove/raced my neighbors stock one with a manual and it was unreal how nice and smooth it was

Solid cars without the crazy maintenance costs that German brands often bring with them. No sense waiting for the new Gt500, as the first year will see stupid numbers for ADMs. Drive the Corvette, when the new Gt500 comes out you have time to wait for it to settle down if that is how you want to go.

I've got a 16. Overheating not a problem on the street or drag racing. I've had no issues with my trans at 1054 rwhp. I had LME build me an engine and LMR did all of the mechanical work but they have never seen an LT4 engine fail that wasn't a factory issue (less than 1500 miles). Very easy to make 700whp (18 % lower, cam with 38% fuel lobe, long tubes, CAI, good tune) but then you have to start messing with the fuel system to make more without relying on meth.

If you already have a 930, pickup a C7 with manual transmission and put a ECS supercharger kit on it. At 6lbs of boost, you will be at 600 rwhp. If you want more add meth and turn up the boost.

Check out the deals on the '18 leftovers (might still be some '17s ou there). I just read an article the other day that stated $15k+ discounts on Z06 models and 0% financing for up to 72 months.
