What to do after GT500, VMP, mods?

Hello,

After buying a new 14 Mustang GT, I got into a clean, low miles 2010 GT500. I added VMP Gen 2, intake, throttle body, injectors, long-tube headers, overdrive crank pulley, heat exchanger, KB BAP, work/tunes by Horsepower Solutions in Newport News VA, … 690whp and about same torque.
Absolutely trouble-free and an absolute blast to drive.
I'm about a year out from paying off the note and mods and I'm thinking about what to do next.
Prior to my initial Mustang, I was driving an older Porsche 911. It was also a blast to drive, but obviously a completely different animal.
I don't think I want to go GT350 direction due oil consumption issues and not having a good understanding of reliability longer term. I also will wait to see what happens with the new GT500.
I don't know where to go now? I thought about a new Mustang GT and supercharge it, or maybe going back to a Euro car (BMW M, Porsche Cayman S, etc..)
Any advice?

Sounds like you need a new project.
Not sure what your goal was with the 2010, maybe there wasn't one.
Where " YOU " should go from here would be pure guesswork for anyone @ SVTP.
.....................Maybe a kit car ??

Hello. Thanks for the valid questions/comments. I plan on keeping the 2010 GT500 and like the current config, performance, etc.. I didn't really have a goal with it other than to experience a pretty bada$$ street car, forced induction, loads of torque, brutal acceleration, etc.. On the streets, the GT500 is like riding around with a bullseye on my back. I'll continue to enjoy that.
Of course, I like cars, lol... I'm just trying to figure out what's the next car that might give me a challenge. The 911 was a challenge to really drive to its capabilities. The GT500 has more capability than I can utilize... I'm still learning how to drive it.
I don't have the income to pursue anything exotic, so I'm looking for something challenging from about <=$70K, new or used. I'm really all over the place with ideas. I'm about a year out on making a move, so I've got time to figure something out.
Again, thanks for the comments/questions.

Since you already have and plan to keep your 2010 thrill ride maybe you would enjoy experiencing the quite different thrill of living debt free for awhile. Watching wild unchecked asset growth can be pretty fun, at least for some people.

If that doesn't do it for you it sounds like you should at least test drive a tuned TTRS. An over-powered go kart might be just what you need.

Good luck with your decision. No losers either way.

I'm looking for something challenging from about <=$70K, new or used.

That's a pretty big budget for a toy. At that price cap, there are TONS of possibilities. What do you actually want out of the car? You want something for straight line running? Something for corner carving? Something for rock crawling? Something for overland running? With your budget, your possibilities are almost limitless. So, what do you want?

Based on what you said said about your previous 911 and your current GT500 configuration, neither handling nor straight line speed are really your thing. Maybe look at a bro-dozer or Wrangler and hit the trails.

My suggestion is to drive the one you have more. It is way to easy to lose interest in them when they sit in the garage. I am guilty of this also, and go through the same thing every spring. Then I start driving the GT500 and realize there is nothing affordable that I could replace it with. My $.02

This is true. I rarely drive my R. (Actually, I rarely drive both my Shelbys.) Not because I don't want to, though, but rather because I work from home full time. So I have no real reason to drive it other than for leisure. I lose interest in it after a while and begin wondering if I should just sell it to someone who would drive it more. Then I drive it and think to myself, "I love this car!" and just keep it in the stable.

@cgaulzetti turned his GT500 into a beast of a road car

Question about coilovers???

He uses his car for pleasure and to advertise his business, but Id say he rather enjoys the way his car drives. You addressed the power, now addres how to put it to the ground AND how she goes around corners. Thats where Id go.
