Chevy guys... God bless 'em. As long as it doesn't have a cage in it, it's still stock, no matter how much stuff they've changed or bolted on. (And they'll even argue the cage part. Remember the Z28's Nurburgring run?)

Right!

Me - Nice *insert Chevy model*, what's it got?
Chevy guy - Basic bolt ons.
Me - So heads, cam, intake and full exhaust?
Chevy guy - Yep just bolt ons.
Me -

well if you want to be technical, anything you do to your car is a bolt on. except a tune, then it becomes a race car.

Chevy guy: I'll race you with my Camaro!
Mustang guy: Bet! Let's set it up!
(Race day, Chevy guy rolls up in a Z06.)
Mustang guy: You said you'd race with your Camaro! Da fuq is this??
Chevy guy: It's a mildly modded Camaro SS 3LT!

LOL

Poor Ford guys. They had to discontinue the Camaro again so the Mustang can be considered fast.

Without a Camaro to push the Mustang, there's no good reason for Ford to keep making the Mustang better (read: more power, better handling, etc).
The pending death of the Camaro is not good news for anyone.

The roles have reversed since Chevy discontinued the Camaro in 2002 before the new Mustang (03 Cobra) came out and wrecked the absolute shit out of it.

GM wanted the Camaro to go out at the top of its game.

New one is failing for the same reason the old one did. It's to expensive and while technically superior, it makes compromises to styling, comfort and daily drivability. They learned nothing.

Hopefully we'll still have Chargers and Challengers into 2030 because I bet Ford really does move the Mustang into a fwd/awd crossover.

Did they really though? LOL.
My absolute favorite car to pull up next to at a light was an 03 Cobra when I was driving my 99 Z28 A4.
Only ever lost to one on the street and he was a driver and car was modded. Run of the mill driver in an 03-04 Cobra was an easy win in my book.

You must have been racing a bolt on 03. I love watching the KB/Whipple terminators decimate everything. Thats what brought me to this site. Then the c6z came....

Let me phone a friend @03Sssnake who has been on both sides of the coin. I wasn’t really a 4th gen fan. My wife loves her 5th gen SS and its a great car, but I rarely fool with it. Dont get me wrong though I do enjoy the Mustangs.

LOL Would be funny if that were true.

I mean, anything can happen on the street. I've seen a ton of stock or literally light bolt-on LS1's running super hard on and off the track. When I started to learn manual, about a couple of months after driving my 03 Cobra, I managed a 12.9 @ 113 bone stock. Later went back with a pulley, intake, mid-pipe, cat-back and tune with Toyo RA1 road race tires and ran 12.4 ! 117 missing 4th around the 1K mark and shutting down on a 2.xx 60'.

Really depends on the driver and both cars during their time and even to date, are really badass.

I am a big fan of the 5th Gens and like the new ones too, but, man, they are godly expensive now, just like the new Mustang's.

Prices are out of control on everything. Only SVTP ballers can afford anything now

My buddy just got a 15’ for 60k. Real low miles.
Ooooops. Didn’t see the ZR1.
Thought you were contemplating a Z06 Tones
I was considering very much a Z07 at one point.
I didn't get a raise at work,.....yet. So, no go. Plus, to be totally honest, I think the Mustang community/aftermarket availability is the best!

And then you think back to how a loaded 1968 Hemi Charger would have set you back $22,000 adjusted for inflation.

Can't even imagine.
