If you want to move the 10's to the front, then the 9's would need to be widened. I believe 11.5" is what most guys have found to work for full travel of the axle.

I did 12" and have not modded anything on my car except to remove the Eibach rear shock boots and the rear brake ducts that were installed on my car at Shelby Las Vegas. When I raise my car on a 2-post lift, it is a two step process, but to me it is worth it, I wanted the wider size Alcoa's on the rear and also no cutting on my car.

I have had no issues with bump stop contact for over two years now.......

Any issues with the 20x10 Alcoas in the front?

1st post almost 6 year thread revival. You might get to meet one of the friendly Mods around here.

Robert M is one of the best people you ever want to talk to. You have to put the @ in front of his name or he won’t know you are talking to or about him. @albertazone

I have heard of several people running the 20 x 10 in front and widening the 20 x 9 for the rear. I would have thought the backspacing would be wrong but apparently not. Oh, welcome to the best forum. Post a pic of your hooptie, eh.

Thanks. Was not sure how to create a new posting or send a message to Robert.

Ok thanks. I did not want to buy them and then discover an issue with hitting a strut or needing a spacer.
What are the recommendations for best size tire to put on 20x10 when mounted on the front?

How much power and what type of use? Yes, Michelin’s run wide, I prefer Toyo or Nitto R compounds

I have just a stock 07 gt500. Not planning to modify the performance, but these rims have become available and I have always liked them but dont want to spend a lot of cash and find out they dont fit.
Would the car need to be modified to run larger than 275 in the rear?
No spacer needed for 20x10 in the front. I had called Shelby in Vegas and they swear the 20x10 will never fit in the front.

With my 10" alcoas on the front I still put my fingers between the wheel and the strut so there is room. Do not know why Shelby says they wont fit unless they are a different wheel.

Not sure, maybe they never tried it.
The rims are the super snake Alcoas that are not manufactured any more. Stamped Alcoa forced shelby 50 years.
Is that what you are running in 20x10?
I called Shelby Canada West and they think they will fit. So I have received mixed messages so thats why I reached out to the forums to see what folks have actually done.

50 YEARS were the last run of Alcoa's that Shelby had made, they were focused around the 50 Year Anniv. of Shelby, 1962-2012, and there was also a 50 Year Anniv. Super Snake in 2012 with Gold stripes.

10" fronts are a direct bolt-on, no spacers needed, even with the Big Baer Extreme front calipers. I have 275's on the front, as mentioned above, some have 285's, I would guess it would depend upon tire brand for the wider fronts. I currently have 15" Baer Extreme rotors behind my 10" front Alcoa's and even with the caliper further out with the 15" rotor, it still clears. I have also had no tire contact when turning lock-to-lock with the larger 275 tires up front.

Robert, thanks for that. I feel confident that they will work up front.
Do you know if a 285 tire (or larger) on the alcoa 20x10 will work in the rear with no issues? I had read somewhere that you need to go to a 275 with the alcoa in the back.

The 285 fitting the 10" wide Alcoa is not the big deal, it is the offset of the Alcoa wheel that is the issue. The face (outer edge) of the Alcoa wheel is out at the edge of the body fender lip, the wider the tire that is installed, the more tire bulge, the more the tire bulge, the more the tire sticks out past the fender lip a looks "fat", "too fat"..........unless you like that look, if you do not, then the Alcoa's need to be widened which would be toward the inside and that would flatten the side wall. <<<Once you get to that point, then some "real meat" can be installed, but it gets EXPENSIVE.

Interesting. The car is not lowered or anything, do you think the 285 will fit fine as is or will the fender need modification? I don't have a real desire to go with a wider tire, just mostly interested in having the alcoas. Sounds like a person might even be able to run 285s all around.

If you are original ride height, there should be no fender to tire contact and depending upon the tire brand, the 285 should be a nice fit and it may stick out a little on the rear or it may not, again, depending upon tire brand.

Well I bought the 4 20x10 alcoa rims over the weekend. Thinking of just running 285/35 in the Pilot Sport 4S on all 4 corners.
Think with that brand there will be any rubbing issues anywhere? Any comments are appreciated before I buy the rubber.

The rear should not be an issue at all. The fronts "shouldn't be an issue" either but it will have to be an try it and see. If you have a friend at a local tire shop who could order you in one Mich. PS 4S for a trial install (not removing any stickers off of the new tire), and will let you return the new tire if by chance it does not work, that would be nice, but most likely you will be fine.

If you put this "square" combination together (same size on all four corners), and it works, please add pictures to this thread so I can copy them to my Alcoa wheel archives, thanks. most people do staggard set-ups with the Alcoa's, so I have nothing documented square.

295/35/20 in the rear might be a better look and perform better but a square setup you can rotate has benefits. Toyo makes an R888 in 285/35/20
Good luck

I was thinking about that also, the 295/35 tire comes oem on the SVTPP rear, and since some of the tire brands run narrower than others in the exact same size, he might even get by with 295/35 on all four corners.........but that would require test fitting for sure on the front, it it may work with the right brand tire.
