IMO its not worth the change for you unless you really really want those bearing caps, I feel like the PP cover cools better because of the finns and Id prefer that personally.

Also be aware that the FRPP 8.8 girdle/cover comes in two variations, the G1 and the G2. The taller FRPP G1 is like the Shelby girdle shown below, it is taller than oem, holds extra fluid for additional cooling and has the load bolts, but it does require a panhard bar relocation bracket because of it's height..............

The FRPP G2 does not require a panhard bar relocation and is closer to oem height, but also does not have as large a fluid capacity.

Another cool cover that is a girdle/cover and does not require panhard relocation is the Scott Drake cover that Shelby sold for a couple of years..........

If you decide to stay with your original plan with the 2011-up finned cover, there is a hole up top for a vent. Shown below is an original Ford "rattle" vent, but there is also a "bulb" type vent that is available from Ford.....

and then there is also the GT500KR cover that has some additional rigidity built into it along with some fins along with the fill and drain capabilities.....

For those who don't mind using a panhard relocation bracket, the Shelby girdle is good price right now through Shelby Performance Parts.

Click on CS info. below......

If you want to strengthen your Mustang or Shelby's 8.8'' rear axle, Shelby American has the perfect solution. Our 8.8'' axle cover/girdle is made from super strong 356-T6 aluminum and was designed to improve ring and pinion gear life and overall rigidity.

It is a cool looking/unique Shelby engraved cover for your Shelby......

^^^Very Nice cover for a good price.

Many times, but not always, when Shelby cuts the price like they have in the link above, and moves the item to the Shelby Parts "Outlet" the item is going to be discontinued in the not too distant future, then the item is obsolete. I have noticed that they have been discontinuing many cool/unique 2005-2014 items and are stocking more and more 2015-up parts instead.

+1 for the G2. If you are that hardcore, you could get a machine shop to drill and tap the G2 for a diff cooler setup.

I think I have a couple of the KR style covers in my shop that I'm not using if anyone is interested. Not sure if I have the bolts but they are easy enough to obtain.

Tob - This is what I was asking about in my PM to you............

Large drain plug.......

Small drain plug......

^^^^^^^and it may be that the large plug was later in the Explorer/Mountaineer production, but I am pretty sure I have seen the large plug covers on some KR's.

I also see that the cross ribs and vertical fins also changed at some point in Explorer/Mountaineer production.....
