If you really want kids like you claim, no hobby in the world is worth not having a mini-me running around. But I'm doubtful that you'll have to give up every aspect of your current hobbies. Just manage them differently. Good luck.

Do it. my lady and I are on the back side of our 30's and its been difficult getting her knocked up. Women are typically much more fertile in their 20's (duh). Sides, you'll be late 40's by the time the kids turn 18 and are off and out in the world.

At my age Ill be in my 50's. But, I want em.

There's pros and cons to both side. We had our kids in our early 20's. So they're 18 and 16 now. It's been nice to tell them we're going out of town for the weekend and not having to deal with finding sitters and stuff. And we won't have to worry about them when retirement comes around. A buddy of mine that's a year older didn't get married until his 30's and now has a 3 and 1 year old. So he's looking at 60 before he gets to be free again. But then he partied it up in his 20's and lived a little.

My wife are tried and paid and tried and can't. It's nothing short of a miracle in my eyes and the most meaningful thing in life you could do. When I die, that's it. When you die you live on...do it.

All I can tell you is, the longer you wait, the harder everything will be. How do I know this? Same advice I've been given from several people I trust.

My wife and I are at the 6 year mark, and I was adamant about not having kids. Walking into the living-room one day and seeing my wife curled up crying was enough to make me change my mind a little. Unfortunately we didn't expect some of the, uh, "issues" and heartache that comes with being unsuccessful in various soul-crushing ways. That's also something to consider.

tl;dr: If parenthood is something you both desire, and you fully trust each other and understand the personal sacrifices and commitments, go for it. The world needs more good people having kids.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Shane. I know it can be really hard on a woman when it doesn't take.

The thread has not disappointed so far. Sound advice, mixed in with assholes, mixed in with good side topics.

I consider kids a blessing, so despite my desire for non-kid life, I think they're great. It's just an overwhelming proposition for any man I'd say. The ol' lady and I will figure it out at some point.

Sorry to hear that. If it's any consolation at all I had cousins in there mid-late 30s that tried the IVF thing twice and it failed. They then managed to conceive naturally which was quite a surprise.

Lucky for us, last summer at 34 and 32 it was no problem.

I just had a son 4 months ago. So far it's been fantastic. My wife is a teacher, so she has been off for several months.

I work 3rd shift, so I'm able to watch him in the afternoon once I wake up. My parents are both retired and live 5 min away and live to watch it. My wife and I do everything we want to do and life really hasn't changed much, bc my parents help so much.

If I didn't have my parents to help I couldn't imagine having a kid. If she's going to be a stay at home mom then your good, if not, it's going to be a rough ride.

If we didn't have help, my wife and I would probably move to somewhere tropical and enjoy life without kids. Massive burden without family.

Keep in mind people looking forward may say this or that but people looking back always say it was the best thing they ever did.

You never hear from the parents that end up with a total dud. I know more than one, and it sucked the life out of them.

It happens, and I hope I'm scaring the $hit out the OP:D

9 times out of 10 the parent/s have everything to do with that.

I say go for it as long as your good with it. I currently have two boys 6 and 4 and we are trying to have another. I have a good job, yet many hours. However, there is NO feeling like coming home and having your children run up to you and being all about you. When that happens it doesn't matter how horrible your day was either.. I have had MANY mustangs and hobbies along with my family life. It was normal for us to have car seats in the back seat, may not be the most comfortable but it can be done. I say go for it!

Last year i spent $1200/month for part time day care for 2 of my kids. This was for 2 days per week, 3 hours per day....True story.

Kids aint cheap but they will enhance your life in ways you never thought possible. I would NEVER ever go back if i had the choice---And i was the anti-kid guy that my wife had to convince to have them. I was 30 when my first was born.
