Cars like the 1LE, GT500 etc are all very sub par in comparison even if they are as fast.

Exactly. My uncle races a Spec Boxster, full prep, caged, tires, ohlins, etc. Laps guys in 997 turbos all the time at VIR. It's his third or 4th as he's destroyed one and crashed another. A $50k race car, $20k trailer and $30k in the bank for tires and maintenance are better then a $100k street car.

A brand new GT500 is great to take to the track once a year, cars & coffee 5 times a year and date night on Saturdays. If you are a serious track rat, a used S550 or GT350 fully prepped is going to be a better choice.

Once you are doing 15 events a year and start competing, that $100k GT500 is going to be a beat pile that needs $30k in mods and will end up in the wall eventually.

At the weld joints, though, right? A carbon fiber k-member wouldn't have welds (or joints) to break. Don't forget that Formula 1 cars have carbon fiber suspension parts. No car, street or race, pulls more lateral Gs than F1 cars. (Maybe Indy cars.)

It would be interesting to compare the load forces of a ~4200 lbs car at like 1.2Gs vs a like 2000 lbs car at 1.5+ or something. I'm pulling those numbers out of my ass, but you get the idea.

I just lost a brake line in my spec miata and sent it face first into the tire wall, $180 and some duct tape later, im still laughing at all the baun stock street cars that have to wave my poor 120hp ass by.

No, chevy supplys the demand, the demand for corvettes is greater than the demand for svt mustangs. If you absolutely have to be special on a blue collar budget then build your own car. Fact is nobody is impressed by corvettes OR mustangs so if you feel like a GT500 makes people jelous and envy you then by all means, believe that.
