You already explained it. They mark everything up so much that they're almost guaranteed to make a profit, no matter how sideways development or sales goes. They can't visualize it, or calculate it any better than you or I can. They just make sure their SWAG has enough safety factor to remain profitable.

When we do a new product program, it's insane how we low ball our expectations so when we're done we can say what an awesome job we did at beating those expectations.

I agree. I probably sound like I'm talking in circles- obviously they make profit, or they wouldn't be in business. It's just that seeing the amount of waste and complexity makes it difficult to understand how that profit is generated. Look at the numbers from the top down, and it makes sense. Look at the numbers from the bottom up and it's a nightmare.

Management exists to ensure management exists, and end users pay out the ass so that some washed up has-been can get paid to transport a coffee cup and provide no actual use to anything in the business. We all know them. And we pay for them.

Well the fusion sport actually was pretty nice. But a fusion st with better suspension and bigger brakes would have been great.

The Fusion Sport didnt get enough press. You see one or two reviews out there but nothing more than that. I feel like the SHO got more attention over its life span than the Fusion Sport did. Even in stock form they are pretty stout and with a tune they are straight sleeper material.

The really sad thing is that the interior of the 2020 FiST is really nice. I'm not sold on the engine, but it's still a shame we won't be getting it in the US.

They blew the new one into orbit with the interior. Its like a night and day difference from the ST we got here. Dont know what changed but damn did we get screwed.

Lol, I thought he was a foreign guy. Like the previous head of the GT500 program.
Jamal Hameedi is about as American as someone can get. Letting him walk for Jaguar/Land Rover was just another dumbass mistake of Ford "leadership". Jamal should be director of Ford Performance global.

Nope, let a quality guy walk and keep a moron like Jim Hackett at the helm..

They screwed Jamal out of several promotions over the years. I don't blame him for leaving.

Hermann Salenbauch is a good director, but IMO he wears too many hats to ensure the SVT/FP lineup lives up to it's namesake.

Oh, Huy Thai-Tang? Chief engineer of the S197? According to Google he's Fords chief product development and purchasing officer.

Yes we are talking about FOB. An acronym that each of is interprets as a different meaning. The way someone put it earlier, not many of us had heard of, "friend of bill".

As much as all of us performance guys dislike what they are doing I think you are right, they are looking at the bigger sadder picture.

Performance vehicles will never drive a manufacturer. It’s the cars and trucks they can sell 500k units of that is there profit gain. Yes hot performance cars are a ton of fun but they are expensive and impractical for normal usage.

The edge and explorer I believe are too high a price point to sell a half million vehicles a year. Ford should sell a ton of fiestas and focus but went cheap with that wretched tranny.
Camry and accord both still sell 300k units a year. There is no reason ford can’t do that. I still say it was stupid to give up on cars. I’ve talked to a number of people who people who won’t look at ford trucks suv simply because they have no entry level hatch or family cars.
Not to mention the contractors who buy 10+ trucks a year. They are going to dodge when once Ford was the only thing they would touch. Too expensive for base work truck.

There are only 3 things that this could mean. Bronco, Fiesta/Focus or Ranger Raptor. I know for a fact Ranger Raptor is a no. So its either bringing back the Fiesta/Focus or the Bronco will debut its look.

Im betting on Bronco being unveiled. Still wouldnt buy stock.
