I am not the original installer of the CP-E fuel hat with dual 465 pumps in my car but I recently had one go out and replaced the set. With the new pumps in the fuel hat, I lowered the assembly into the tank and the pumps seem to bottom out in the tank before the hat is resting on the tank seal. I cant see exactly how much farther down the hat need to go before contacting the gasket but I would estimate and 1/8th inch or so.

Anybody else ran into this? The pumps cannot sit any higher in the hat and I have inspected the bottom of the tank to see if it is dent and there is no dents or damage to the tank from what I can see.

Did you check to make sure that infact the new pumps and old pumps are the same measurements?

Did you cut the feed pipe down significantly on the new pumps? That is the only way you'll be able to push the pump in far enough to get enough clearance. It should look like this when assembled. The bottom of the pump has to be pushed all the way up until it hits the shoulder at the bottom.

I did not compare them side by side and can't now as I have thrown away the old pumps, rookie mistake I know and now I am kicking myself. I went with the high relief pressure 465s. I contacted Walbro to ask if there any difference in physical size between the regular 465 and the high relief pressure 465 and they confirmed that they are the same dimensions. I wish I hadn't tossed my old pumps so quickly to see if the previous owner did indeed have to trim the pump outlets to get them high enough.

I did not cut down the outlet as of yet. This is literally the only thing I can think of doing. Thank you for your response! I'm glad to know that I am not the only one with this issue and don't have a problem with my actual fuel tank.

You have to trim that nipple down on the pump so it slides in far enough like my pic shows. There is no way around that. Easy fix though, so do that and you'll be fine.

Sounds good. I will take some pictures tonight as I take the things apart and document it here for all others to see.

I recall there being some issues with older hats. The newer Fore hats fit the 465s without any mods needed.

Post pics, there must have been major modifications to make it work.

I didn't do the work and the shop that did didn't say anything about having any problems with it. I'm obviously not taking my entire fuel tank apart just to take a picture.

It's not really physically possible to put two of those pumps in a stock hat. I'm skeptical until I see pics of it.

I stand corrected, I do have an after market hat. And apparently I'm missing a shit ton of stock parts.

For anybody else running into this issue, I will post pics of issue and fix of issue.

The pump is about 3/8inch from bottoming out in fuel hat therefore is will not sit flush inside tank. as you can see the pump cannot be raised and further as it is contacting the outlet nipple of the hat

Once you trim about 3/8 inch off of the plastic pump nipple the pump then slides all the way up in the fuel hat without issue and has clearance between pump and fuel hat outlet nipple.

Here are the 2 pumps side by side for reference with one trimmed and the other not trimmed yet. The pump now fit inside fuel tank without issue.
