Damn good looking car Bob. I test drove a Genesis G70 a few weeks ago and really liked it. It’s on the short list to replace our current Fusion. My concerns are the gas mileage, and resale. The G80’s I looked at all had lost almost 50% value after 3 years. Anyway, I emailed Doug Demuro and asked him to do a review of the G70 and he did one about 2 weeks later. If it came as a hybrid, I probably would have ordered one already.
Congrats. Enjoy the new ride. It looks awesome.
I think the G70 is going to hold value better than the G80 because it's a new and better platform. Time will tell. Fuel mileage is "average" for a high performance twin-turbo engine. As expected, the more you're into higher boost the more fuel it's going to drink. I'm a happy "drunk". LOL.

Looks great Bob, enjoy it!
Thanks! :)

thats awesome an exact match rolled in! Enjoy the new car!
I still am amazed at how it all happened.

Yes, it'll work. Only on the new 8-speed and 10-speed transmissions do you need to new MyCal Touch.

Edit: Congrats on the new ride, Bob! Update us after a couple weeks of driving it.
Thanks. I'll post an update in a couple of weeks. It will probably have a lot more detail regarding the various features/options/equipment. For example, the audio system is one of the best I've experienced in a car. 15 speakers and two sub-woofers take a lot of the credit.

Bob, is this a car I will expect to pay MSRP on??? I hear Genesis is list price. Love the blue but haven't seen one.

Thanks in advance...

Some Genesis dealers may try to push MSRP. My dealer gave me $2K off the MSRP. Most dealers give a $500 military discount (you need a DD-214), $500 or $1,000 dealer discount, and $1,000 - $1,500 early lease payments credit (or a bigger regular discount).

There were a couple of blue G70s at my dealership. I reminds me a bit of the Terminator Sonic Blue. Just like the Himalayan Gray that I have reminds me of my own Dark Shadow Gray paint.

It still boggles my mind that a 2019 Edge ST MSRP is higher than all G70 packages except the Sport. Extra space aside, no comparison as far as quality, features and technology. I got an email yesterday from my Ford dealer lease manager asking me to come in to talk because he knew that I test drove an Edge ST. When I turn my Edge in, I'll definitely tell him what I bought. I did enjoy my Edge, except for the crappy 6-speed transmission.

Not a fan of the Ford Edge either. However the new Lincoln Aviator and Corsair hit it out of the park.

I agree that the new Aviator is a huge hit for Ford/Lincoln. I was just tired of driving an SUV. It was time for something smaller and more nimble, if you know what I mean.

I've got an appointment on May 3 to have my G70 ceramic coated. My buddy is a detailer, and a good one. I'll post a couple of photos when it's done.

I'm an old guy with no family so I probably need a little more utility. It is a beautiful car though-

I'm an old guy, too. LOL. Just my wife and I now. We both had SUVs, but now it's down to her Hyundai Tucson. Her lease is up in 5 months and so far she's leaning towards a sedan.

I just watched the Motorweek review. They seemed to like it.
I saw that, too. So far mine has measured up to their review. I'm really happy that I stuck to going for exactly what I wanted, with no compromises. I almost went with silver and the Prestige package because I thought I could get it faster. As it turned out, mine showed up just as I wanted. Nothing worse than compromising and regretting it weeks after the purchase.

Lol, late to the party but seen the car in your sig...how you liking it? Funny how people mention resale and depreciation, in this category when it’s going up against Mercedes and BMW’s, have you seen the depreciation value on those? I almost bought a 740LI a few years back, it’s was 3 years old and had already lost $40k in value.

Anyway...I have a 17 Genesis G80 and I absolutely love it. I got the 5.0 and everyone that rides in my car can’t believe how smooth and quiet it is. I have people all the time asking me if it’s on. I needed a bit bigger than the G70, but I love those as well, they are just way sportier looking. Mine is black but I had it wrapped in the flip ghost pearl.

Thanks to Bob's advice, I bought an Adriatic Blue 3.3 and drove from Savannah to Orlando to pick it up. In doing so I saved about 4k as local dealer is a dick and wanted MSRP. I keep it in "comfort" mode and it is pretty peppy but I am easy on it until after I change oil at 1000 miles. I have 850 miles on it - but 400 came from picking it up. Gotta admit I like more than my 03 Terminator...

I plan on getting one dropped off for the wife to test drive for a weekend before she buys another Legacy. Spoke with Bob at length about his 3.3, while I still think I like the Stinger better my wife will be happier in the G70 as long as we get some all seasons put on.

I test drove the Stinger...and just wasn't impressed. This is a crappy city to buy a car and they, too, wanted MSRP. It is larger than G70 and the interior just didn't come close in quality. Attitude of sales people at Kia..left a lot to be desired.

Genesis has sent me tutorials since my purchase and even a charging pad for my phone that I can use anywhere. Nice touch to my buying experience. There is a charging pad in the car-

What does a "ceramic coating" do?

I'm loving it! I actually didn't drive it as much this year as I planned. I bought it in early April and it only has 3,200 miles on it. Partly because my wife and I work together and we tend to use her car for work. Your G80 looks awesome with the Flip Ghost Pearl paint. Nice wheels. Did you lower it? The stance looks nice.

Congrats on a great deal on your Adriatic Blue 3.3. Which package did you get?

It was a pleasure talking to you, Jay. As we discussed, the Stinger GT is longer (hatchback) and has more rear seat room. But the interior just doesn't compare to the G70. I hope she like the test drive.

Genesis sent me the same portable charging pad. It just showed up one day. Ceramic coating is a protective coating which is superior to what dealers typically sell, and about the same price. My buddy did mine for free. The guy is a detailing genius. It would have cost me around $1100. It was done in April and the paint still beads water like crazy. I'm very happy with it.

Looks sharp!

Thanks James. I put the car under wraps for the winter, so I won't get to use it again until late March or early April. Put it on a set of wheel ramps (designed for long storage to avoid flat spots) and covered it with a nice, soft charcoal cover. ;)

I just saw a note on the "mid year refresh" what ever that means. The front grill is a little different. What got my attention was the engine changes...the 4 cylinder gets 304 hp and the 3.3 is now 3.5 litres and 380 hp. A new "wet" 8 speed tranny is added. This shows me Genesis is serious in going after competition.

Bob I got the 3.3 "Advanced" model. It's below your sport model. I still haven't figured out all the gadgets but I sure love the front, rear and side collision warning! Being Savannah, this is a year around driver..

This car was on my radar a couple of months back. I really thought I wanted one but went with a CTSV because they stopped making them. Guess you could say "it was on my bucket list".

The refresh isn't supposed to come until the 2021 or 2022 model year. The 2.0L Inline 4 cylinder is rumored to being replaced by the new Hyundai Sonata's 2.5L Inline 4. Yeah, power would jump from 252hp to 304hp while torque would jump from 260 to 310. The 3.5T (Lambda lll) would replace the 3.3T engine. Rumors on increased power from the 3.5T are from 380-410. The front grill will be refreshed to match the style of the new G90, and the Infosystem will be upgraded. That is all good news, but I'm more than happy with my 3.3T. I'll be keeping my radar at the ready on future changes.

The CTSV is a fine car. You should be really happy with it. Good looking. Great power & performance.

I am very happy with it. The previous car was/still is a Chevrolet SS which is also a great car. Shameless plug here but "it is for sale" .
