I saw a 3-4 min video with a gt500 running 1:59.68and a c8 running 2:00.96. They must have populated a better video. It’s a full side by side lap race now.

Considering that is a front engine 760hp 4150lbs car on 220tw tires, against a 3600lbs 500hp mid engine with z51, good night. Just the handling pack and gurney flap setup on a tire will be epic, let alone the carbon fiber track pack.

I find it odd that they compare two different GT500s but only one C8. Like they wanted to make it fair and have something to nit pick the C8 against. MT has always had a bias on anything different then GM and Porsche.

Carbon Fiber Track Pack is said to be 6 secs faster than the C8 and 5 secs faster than the previous gen GT500.

I don’t much about road courses but VIR looks like a pretty fast track with some decent straights? Considering the gt500 has another 250 horsepower on it and only
beat it by a second, sounds pretty good for the vette imo.

No reason to turn this into a bitch-fest. Seemed like a good write-up, highlighting the pros & cons of two great cars.

According to this test, the CFTP was 4.6s faster than the C8. Both in their respective track alignments.

As badass as the 500 is, the c8 just embarrassed it. With much smaller (power, torque, brakes, tires, gearing) everything to include price, the base C8 goes toe to toe with the base 500 on the track.

can’t wait for the Z06 variant, it is absolutely gonna dominate.

That's what I thought, makes me laugh that guys still think the base 500 will dominate a ZLE. And with all the high praise it's going to be hard to claim bias. Looks like Ford really nailed the CFTP as a package.

What’s crazy is that the ZL1 1LE with only 125 extra HP and similar hardware absolutely WRECKED the 350R.

Now the GT500 with 260 extra HP and superior hardware, barely edged out a C8.

The C8 also has double wishbone front suspension, a mid engine weigh distribution, and all around superior suspension geometry. You're not wrong, but call it what it is, the vette has several advantages as well but still got beat by a "less sophisticated car."

Obviously Ford can’t do anything right. What does the ZLE do against the C8. I’m assuming by some comments it’s faster on track than the c8.

Times? Randy said the cftp is 5 seconds faster than the base track pack. I’m not sure if he was referring to this configuration or the full course.

I hear you. Vette has its advantages too. The 500 is an absolute BEAST. It is a testament to how incredible the C8 is.
tracks and performance don’t care about sophistication.

Test kind of lines up with exactly what youve been saying for the last 6 months.

you are right. The c8 for this test was loaded with irrelevant options that hiked up the price.

A 1LT c8 is $59k and the Z51 option is $5k (which can be added to any trim level).

the base 500 is 73k iirc.

so again, a much cheaper c8 will go toe to toe with a 500 on the track
