Does anyone remember that guy that used sandpaper to fix the worn, fuzzy suede on his seats?

This sounds crazy but years back there used to be a guide on how to fix the worn, fuzzy suede on our factory seats with sandpaper. The guy used progressively finer grits until the suede looked brand new again.

I don't remember the exact process or what grits he used, was hoping someone saved the thread or had a link.

I dont know how bad your seats are but I used a battery powered fuzz trimmer you would buy for clothes. I think it was like 10-15 bucks on amazon

This might sound crazy to you, but you can use a shaving razor, as well. Wet the area, and “gently” run it across. You will be able to remove the fuzz.

Old trick I used for shaping / cleaning berets.

this came up on lightning rodder in a quick search

1. Use jumbo lint shaver to remove large pieces (found mine at Jo-Ann Fabric)

2. Use shaving razor (preferably new) in multiple directions to remove remaining smaller pieces.

3. Lightly sand with 1500 grit paper in circular motion

4. Lightly sand with 2000 grit paper in circular motion.

I used my wife's battery powered fuzz trimmer and it worked great. The best thing was she never knew I had it.

I do remember the old thread that was on SVTP (yet, it was here), and those 4 steps seem to be the ones I remember.
