2020 GT500 Track Alignment Question

So, in the 2020 GT500 Owners Manual Supplement, page 47 specifies that you need an "Adjustable Camber Front Strut Top Mount" in order to set the alignment for track use.

Later, on page 49, the supplement indicates that this Adjustable Camber Front Strut Top Mount is an option (i.e., "if equipped"). I contacted someone at Ford Performance, and he indicated that this is an option only for the Carbon Package. But why would they show a table with track alignment figures for both the base model GT500 and the Carbon Package separately...?

So, can you set your base model GT500 to the specified track alignment without any options (e.g., the Adjustable Camber Front Strut Top Mounts) ?

You get the plates with a CFTP order but they are not installed. You can buy them as a service item for a Base GT500 or use an aftermarket set of plates.

Can you still adjust the alignment (to some degree) toward the track specs even without the plates?

I was able to do this on my Mustang... Thanks.

It's probably a little early to tell, but in the case of the gt350 the strut bolts are splined and allow for nearly no adjustment.

It's one thing I desperately wish Ford would copy from Chevy.

Your options are plates, or camber bolts if there isn't any adjustment to have. I personally feel more comfortable with plates, although there are reputable guys who state the front suspension of the S500 is robust enough that bolts aren't a concern. But with that said, this car is significantly faster, heavier and has more bite than a typical S500.

Have you taken delivery of your car? If so, it could be worth it to schedule an appointment at your nearest race shop and see what they can do.

You can always slot the upper strut mount (to knuckle) hole or the upper mount (tower) holes if necessary to tweak.
