Except Vipers have been the fastest 6 speed cars like forever. More like other cars finally caught up to them. Vipers were running 7’s in the early 00’s.

but I agree, the engine management tech makes them way more potent to drive around and cruise, with e85 and such being widely available the only real limit for cars is your wallet.

Here is a old school one

This one was the fastest 6 speed for quite a few years

That bumble bee might be The Chad's Viper from viperalley. Dude was running 7s in 2007.

I never cared for the GTR. Ugly car, inside and out, just has a bunch of tech thrown in it. What do people expect to happen when you have a boosted 8.4 V10 against a boosted 3.8 V6? Its massive torque that a V6 wont have and from a roll, awd isnt as much help as it is from a dig. Ive talked to Calvo already and want to take my car there for a heads/cam setup this fall. 800 NA Hp is plenty enough, I couldnt imagine a 2000 Hp one.

once you introduce boost, the displacement argument kinda goes out the window. At that level, the car with the most work/money wins. GTR showed up short. I’m sure there are GTRs that would show that Viper tails.

GTRs damn near own roll racing events, standing mile events, and just about any event where “street cars” compete.

So I guess they have that going for them.

Damn ugly Jap cars!!

Boost being equal, the bigger the displacement on one engine over the other is gonna equal more power/torque and less stress on components every time. Thats why you dont see offshore power boats running a ecoboost V6 in them. Its gonna be a big inch V8 making huge power, lower in the power band, and living longer.

No , design of the motor makes big difference too . Stock 5.2L V10 R8/Huracan engine will make more power then stock 8.4L Viper V10 with egual boost pressure

I would normally agree but im not seeing 3000 whp Vipers. Not saying they don't exist but the fastest vipers I see at Y2K are usually in the 2200-2500 whp range.

Cubic inches is the advantage over the GTR.

How do you own a gtr and do all that to it but not have a bottle heater for the nitrous? How do you have a car fast enough (presumably) to need a parachute but not be savvy enough to at least do a countdown or a three honk count on the street?

Money can't buy taste or common sense it seems. Also, he was way out of his league. That was an easy like of money to win. I'd almost feel guilty, almost.

i have a couple thoughts on this:
1. who really cares? would you want to own a car with 3k hp? because that car is useless for almost everything but roll racing at that power level.
2. with HALF the traction capability I'm surprised they're willing to make that hp.
3. viper motors can make that power level, the reason nobody does it is because they'd then have to put the power down.

this has more to do with AWD vs RWD than mopar vs nissan.

Wait, so they can't put the power down at 3000hp but they can put it down at 2500???

Exactly 72SBC, you beat me to it. Displacement has its advantages
What advantage ? high TQ is really not need . easy overcome with proper gearing and rpms.

My car in the video below has less power , more weight and shit load of less TQ.

That’s because of rpm, the viper will still make way more torque.

It is the same story as a coyote and LS.
Sure it will make more TQ but that TQ won't make it any quicker then high revving smaller motor with proper gearing

Calvo builds fast stuff. Ryan's car is badass, but not even one of his fastest creations.

Hell, his orange TA is going back together now and he's expecting 3500rwhp.
