If I had to base everything I’ve done with cars on resale, I’d stop messing with Mustangs all together. Point is, don’t let resale stop you.

Which solidifies the reasoning for a factory five cobra. The resale will ALWAYS be there.

Do it, snake!

I say option 2.

Or put it in another cool car ( i.e fox body, older generation Mustang or factory 5 Cobra) and get rid of that GT. Don't put it in the GT. Waste of time and money in my opinion.

Or sell it and get the money for the work you did that got you the drivetrain in the first place.

Option 1. I get to attached to my stuff and don’t like selling stuff. You know the condition of the body interior etc. Plus you can say say you did all the work and surprise people who think it’s a lowly 2V. Post ip a pic of the GT.

Figured I didn't do option 1 justice since the GT is so nice and clean.

  • 01+ Charcoal Interior swap
  • Terminator seats. Mach 1 cluster. Full stereo setup and ice cold AC
  • Painted Ultra white in PPG 2K Urethane last year.
  • Termi mirrors. + termi body parts in the garage that need to be painted
  • MM coilovers/Control arms
  • Suspension is done front to rear
  • Built 8.8/Aluminum driveshaft
  • Full bassani Exhaust
It's a nice car but the 2v needs valve stem seals and the trans has a rattle of some sort in it. If I sell it, i'll need to fix both things to make it really bring top dollar (read: 6-7k).

I'm in a weird spot because this car has a ton of potential but it's also not "the" car in terms of vin. But the body, chassis, frame, and history of the car is clean. All the panels are OE and it's never had anything besides the paint job.

Ok, that thing is pretty sweet, never seen that interior color scheme before and I like it

Things I would add if money wasn't a concern:
01 cobra bumper + mach chin
03/4 side scoops
Shaved 03/4 rear bumper
Saleen rear spoiler
Shave all badges and door handles

Posts and likes are not mine.

Thanks! The interior is 100% my new favorite thing after I went thru the process of swapping it.

I have the 03/04 Cobra side scoops with carbon fiber inserts sitting here. I'm going to have the mirrors, the scoops, and whatever else painted to match the car at the same time.

If I keep it i'll splurge on the Fiberglass specialties 99/01 bumper and 03/04 shaved rear bumper kit they sell now. Same with the bullitt side skirts. Hood is up for debate, I may need space for the blower snout.

I've had a few hits on potential roller bodies so we will see what the price tag on those are. It may be cost prohibitive to start over but never hurts to look.

I 100% disagree with you saying it’s a waste of time and money. I did this and I would say my car is nicer than a lot of “real” 03/04 Cobras that I’ve seen. Depending on what type of $ being spent on it of course. Although I don’t like having to say “it’s not a real cobra”. But oh well. I’m into it for a fraction of a real cobra and my engine has 345 miles on in, not 60-70K like most Cobras. To each their own.
However in a few years I think I’ll be doing a 65’ coupe swap.

I see your point and my comment was not meant to offend anyone who has done this. My only intent was to say it would not be worth it "only" because the 99-04 GT's are not coveted vehicles and you would never get your money back on a build like that.

I also realize money is not the only motivating factor and as you say to each their own. I'm currently building my 65 coupe and I have big plans for it. My dad always tells me I'm investing more than I'll ever get back. Selling my 65 for a profit later on is NOT my motivation.

So, I see your point. I just wouldn't choose a 99-04 GT platform to install a Terminator drive train, but that's just me.

I must say...……...You have a beautiful Mustang though \m/……..

I'd put it in the GT.

How could putting it in a 99/01 Cobra or 03/04 Mach be any better? They're not worth that much more than a GT, maybe ~3k for same year and mileage? So to me at that point its better to just put it in the Mustang you already have.

Second choice would be to put it into something old or unique. Then resale value wouldn't be a concern.
