Are 2013/14 GT500 TPMS Sensors Backwards Compatible to 2010?

The saga continues. I've searched, googled, and asked a few members, but no answers.

I'm willing to install the 2013 GT500 sensors, on my 2010, if they will sync up, and physically fit on the 2010 factory 19" rims?

Does anyone know if this will work?

Just curious, how do you know this? Have you, or anyone you know done this? I'm waiting to hear back from Lethal on this as well. My original ones have lasted 11 years, so that's like $20 a year to upgrade.

I have 10-14 sensors on my car which is an 07 and they do not work. Thats how I know.

Yes. 10-14 are compatible and 07-09 are different sensors

Were you able to get them to work across the years? I thought I had read in one or more of your posts that they were not compatible?

I have a set of 2013/14 sensors in a set of 2015/16 Super Snake wheels that I want to install on my 2008 and was concerned that the newer sensors do not link by a previous post I thought had made.

It's the kind of question needed to be asked because, endless searching online, and asking people on here with more experience than you, failed to yield an answer. Will you refund my $250 if it doesn't work LOL? You have basically "proven a negative", by stating it doesn't work in the 07 to 09 model years. Hoping to clear this up once and for all. Thanks for your input though. This is still a mystery, looking for someone who actually did it.

.......and that is my question also, they are both 315Mhz, the 2007-2009 band type and the newer stem type, so the communication frequency is the same and the car does not care if the sensors are attached with a stainless band to the inside of the wheel or a stainless screw to the end of the stem......but is it maybe a bit rate in the communication stream with the car that is different? At one point I seem to remember some of the aftermarket Mustang parts companies listing the stem type TPMS as being the same and a replacement for all 2007-2014, but that is not how they seem to be listed now.

I am telling you the compatibility dude. Lol.
Anyway, good luck. Maybe someone smarter than me will tell you the same answer and you will believe them.
Tips of the trade. Try cross referencing part numbers a little bit ;)

It was the communication of these sensors to the car not being the same that did not come across in your post.

That is why I had to verify, because they are all 315Mhz.......but apparently something is different....

I know what you are saying..............Did the 2010 keep the 2007-2009 TPMS signaling? or did it change at that MY for the 2010-2014?.....If the new TPMS signaling started in 2010, then you should be able to used the 2013/14 TPMS stainless valve stems AND sensors in your wheels......IF, the TPMS signaling did not change until 2011, then $200 for 2013/14 stainless valve stems, with sensors you can not use, will get to be rather expensive valve stems. <<<But cool looking and 200mph spec'ed.

I haven't tried it, but fitment should work.

The blue band type sensor was OEM on my 2008; I replaced them with stem type ORO-TEK part# OSE-7635A which work fine on my car.

The stem type pictured below came with a set of Ford Racing wheels I purchased, but I read a note that stated that M-1180-A would not work with 2007-09 model years. These particular stem type sensors have a warning not to exceed 155 MPH.

Robert is correct, they all operate at 315MHz.

Looking for Ford 2013 units, specifically. Not generic. The ones pictured, should not be used in the 13/14 MYs, due to their construction. The 13/14 Ford units, do not cross reference with earlier model years, according to any Ford dealer's catalog.

The 2010 GT500 ones cross reference with much less powerful Ford products, and should have never came equipped on this car.

they are same frequency, but will not interchange. I know this because I have both sensors.

the Ford units are the same. Not sure why OP Is trying his hardest to prove me wrong when you asked for help and I have you the answer?
I have OEM Ford units right in front of me

So it is a "bit rate" data communication issue as I mentioned somewhere above in this post. I had not read Tobs post, but that makes sense why they are the same 315Mhz frequency, but will not talk.

Now I need to find a set of 2007-2009 stem type sensors only for those 2015/16 Super Snake wheels....... and I will have a set of new 2010-2014 oem Ford sensors for sale in the process.....A project for another day.....

Heard back from Lethal Performance. I am going to follow up with a reply, as they might be cross referencing 2013/14 p/n's and seeing the only models they fit are the 13/14's, as per Ford. They also might not have the experience in even knowing they can be used in the 10-14 MY range.

Their reply to my question of compatibility of 2013 to 2010 sensor use:

"Unfortunately no they will not fit your year car.

I recommend contacting a Ford dealer and inquiring where to purchase the correct ones. We're sorry for not having the 2010's!"

I guess if it comes down to gambling, I buy just one (I don't know any local 2013 owners to borrow a rim) and see if it syncs. Still possible, I find a non TPMS metal stem, and FORscan delete the module.
