It’s fine for standard driving. Just stay out of triple digit land.

To be honest I think the car would look better without the giant ricer looking wing anyway. Lets face it, it just doesn't really look all that appealing and is it really necessary? I say just leave it off I think it looks way better without it.

Brett LaSala goes 7.20 @ 190+ mph and has no wing! Doesn't seem to stop him from going fast or getting traction at high speeds and he does plenty of roll-racing!

i'm talking about the front splitter, not the rear wing.

Center strut (splitter turnbuckle) result of part revision not covered on installation instructions?

Nope...just curious how that could be!

Here is the PDI video for a zr1...at 11:40 they show the center splitter turnbuckle install. I showed the dealer and he said "maybe you have a different package zr1...nope, they all have it...lol"

Unsure how GM performs doc control:
- Part(component)/Subassembly/Product revisions can take from hours to months to be released.
- Revisions don't get completed through the system. Why? People are people.
- Or???

Coud be that splitter w/turnbuckle could be a different splitter assembly part number too. I've seen that.

IMHO: Best to just wait for a new splitter w/turnbuckle, call it a day.

After spending an entire morning explaining everything 6 times we finally got it all figured out...it will be covered! The instructions I posted above is the reason some dealers do not install the center support...those instructions are not for the Zr1. The head mechanic at the local dealer figured that part out. There is no cutting or rivets on the zr1 install...

Once he figured that out, they contacted the original dealer to see what instructions they used...voila...the same ones I posted above. GM was then called direct and explained what has happened and is happening. Someones head will roll eventually since there are several documented cases so far BUT nobody figured out why it was happening until today apparently.

Total cost if I was to pay would have been around 2500 installed...

Problem number 2 is GM refuses to send any carbon pieces for the zr1 until lots of things are confirmed, if you don't include vin, owner info and all kinds of stuff with the RO they will simply ignore it and NOT call the dealer to ask for the info. A few other zr1 owners waited over a month for this part because of that.

So, I am making sure that doesnt happen as well. Good times! lol.

Can you email that Chevrolet dude? He works at a dealership somewhere. I'm sure he'd be willing to help you out.
Good luck man.

Good Luck. the goal is to get you frustrated enough to give up and move on. Lots of companies are doing that these days, that way only the super persistent get through and its cheaper for the company in the long run. Just blame Covid!

Cool they’re taking care of you and making it right. Interesting how they mention to make sure to not sell zr1 parts non zr1 owners.

Side note, does the zr1 feel faster than the McLaren?

My Mac had full exhaust and custom tune...Most guys with those mods are running high 9's low 10's...I think the stock zr1 record is [email protected] it would be close. The Mac felt really fast at all speeds and never seemed to lose acceleration above 130mph. Here a few videos of my cars to compare...

and my HCI C7Z06...

after watching the videos it's crazy to think that a c7z06 with HCI might not be as fast as a stock c7zr1...ha. It would be close though.

Big difference with the 2.3L twin screw S/C over that anemic 1.9L that the Z06 has. Never understood why GM thought that was a great idea as they used a 2.3L in the C6 ZR-1 and it had 638 HP and yet they down grade the S/C for the 650 HP C7 Z06
