Chilton vs Haynes repair manuals

*plot twist* Haynes publishes both!

Even still, I vastly prefer Chiltons. Closer to a factory repair manual than the Hayes brand IMO.

this. Although I’ve used and still have some books. I am more so a visual learner and YouTube in this regard really helped me / is helping me do more than I thought I could.
They also are very generic and don't give you the actual knowledge you need.

"remove the 4 14mm holding the stater, an extension maybe needed"


Go on YouTube and the guy shows you how to use a 2x4 to lift the engine up slightly and the 8 extensions and swivels you'll need along with removing the headlight to get that hard to reach 4th starter bolt out.

You see the real world problems and how to solve them.

Today I use Google and YouTube when researching how to do a project whether it be vehicle or home repairs.

Back in the early 90's I used Chilton's. Just liked the pictures and the step by step procedures listed. I remember reading the Chilton's during the week and then on the weekend tackling the repair or modification.
