I have eight 8 foot LED lights, each 9360 lumens for a total of 74,880 lumens in a one car garage. I painted all the walls white and did the floor in a pearl white epoxy so that light reflected off of everything. It honestly takes your eyes a few seconds to adjust to the brightness but it is amazing to work in. There is zero need for any sort of handheld shop light or anything else to help see what I'm working on. Here is a photo of some wheels I took right after I did the garage. It's like a giant photobooth.

Yep, those are the ones I have inside my garage. Might be a different manufacturer as there are many who make the paddle style screw-in fixtures. There are a number of really good LED (high brightness) light fixture options out there.

I put an LED floodlight on the front of my garage, and the light is astounding. It only goes on after dark and is motion activated.

I just skimmed this thread and the paddle lights got me too. I just ordered some too. For some reason lights are like catnip for gear heads

Which brand did you decide to go with?

I’m super interested in trying these out after just seeing them for the first time about a week ago. I’m sure there are better ‘commercial’ options, but for ease of plug and play, these seem like a great alternative to a rewire/mounting job.

I picked up 3 of the paddle lights from Menards. These are only 34 watts each but also only cost $10 a piece. 3 of them light my fiancé’s garage very well. I can’t remember the lumen rating but I want to say 7k each. Now that I know I like them I’ll probably put the higher wattage versions in my garage.

I just purchased a pair these, they are supposed to produce up to 12000 Lumens, 6000K at 80w.

Lol this is so true .....

Maybe that's why I own 100+ flashlights and always seek out the new and best lumen lights output.

Recently I have started collecting vintage flashlights as a side hobby.
If it's anything like it was for you guys, it's because of my dad when I was growing up and working on stuff.

"Do you need a light?"

"No I'm good"

"How can you see anything without a GD light?"

"Ok I'll grab a light"

I don't know if you own a Nitecore EC23, but I am totally impressed with how much light (1800 Lumens) this small flashlight puts out. Fits nicely in a pocket and will light up whatever you aim it at.

NITECORE EC23 1800 Lumen High Lumen EDC Flashlight

Perfect thread! I plan to redo my 3 car garage in the spring and currently running 3 100w LED bulbs from Walmart that do the job, but it could certainly be better.

Has anyone ever used any of those LED leaf bulbs? Something like this:
150W LED Garage Light, 15000 Lumens Deformable New Four Leaf Tribright Lighting, 4 Adjustable Panels Quadruple Glow Garage Light, CRI 80, 6000K Garage Ceiling Light for Warehouse, Basement, Barn
My cousin is an electrician and besides more outlets in the garage, I'm also planning to expand lighting.

I ordered 4 of these last night. Going to see how 2 look in my garage as it’s just a little bigger than a standard 2 car.

If 3 or 4 are required, so be it.

I have both of these below, I'll just give my .02.

My garage is a tall (over 12'), but narrow 2 car that's fairly deep.

I have 9 of these in the shop. it's like daylight. They screw in to a regular lightt socket and you can aim the paddles.

Garage only had one socket, and my dad gave me one of these. It's a huge improvement over a regular bulb, if you have several sockets, this is by a wide margin the easiest thing to do to get good light. If I felt like running romex and adding more sockets, I would have gone this route.

Grabbed a set of these from Amazon and the light output is worth the short amount of coin. I’ve only set up four total bulbs and I’m happy with the end result, might get a few beers in me one night and throw the extra two in for the hell of it.

I ordered 2-8 packs of these in 4' 5000k because it was like.. $120 all in and I figured it was worth it. Last night I put up 5 of the 14 planned, and based on a free lumen app on my phone, just 2 of these lights at the same height are a little more bright than the screw in one.

With 5 of them up so far (and on the side/corner) it's a lot brighter than I was expecting. Adding another 9 of them should make it basically daylight inside my garage.

I will say, the mounts(and screws) for them aren't particularly beefy, but they do seem to hold because the lights are insanely lightweight.

The other benefit that my wife pointed out, because they have a diffused cover, it doesn't hurt your eyes to look up directly at them.

Glad you like this option. I agree on the mounts and screws as I too was a little hesitate, but like you said the lights are pretty light so hopefully there isn’t any problems down the road.

When you’re done mounting all the nights up throw up some after pics to give us an idea.

I'm currently doing all sorts of shit, so I'm drywalling too, so it might be a bit.

I don't work tomorrow but my wife does so I may be able to get a decent amount of work done.
