I left Facebook actively about 3 years ago. Best decision of my life. I didnt close the account yet, I have fmaily spread out all over the world so its still the easiest way to communicate. But FB doesnt get my traffic anymore.

Sides, if all you want to do is skeeze on some THOTs, Instagram is where its at.

No IG or Twitter, however I’m still on FB - I rarely post and use it almost exclusively for car and racing groups since most of the forums have died out.
I do get quite annoyed at all the political BS or the blatantly false re-posts. Unfortunately, lately the inaccurate posts been by friends and family that share generally common political viewpoints. It’s impossible to reason with them by replying with logic and fact, i.e., actually reading the study or providing them with peer-reviewed source material.

I only occasionally get sucked in but my feed has been a lot better using the unfollow function. Now I mainly just see car related posts which is fine by me.

When I got a divorce my attorney told me to get off social media and I'm glad I did. I still use social media for advertising work but I don't do anything personal on it. I don't miss hearing how evil people of my political persuasion are from my family members and loved ones. Politics has turned social media into a cesspool.

Smart attorney, you'd be surprised how many cases are won/lost/thrown out because of Facebook

I keep thinking of deleting mine, I have the app removed from my phone but still use messenger and have the messenger app.
What's funny is I'll tell my sister or bother in law "I'm thinking of deleting facebook" usually on messenger and the next day I can look at "friends" suggestions and it's full of attractive women, but with no connections to any of my friends.... Very clever Zuk... Very clever...
Once I get through all of the single ones I'll probably delete it.
I just really miss all the smaller forum's that FB has killed.

I've been off for a few years now. I will reactivate my account every 6 months or so when I want to look at the classifieds and Mustang parts groups I was on.

I just couldn't stand watching my friends adamantly arguing over politics while not knowing what they were talking about. I'm a poli-sci major and have been following politics since I was a little kid. I imagine it'd be like being a life long football fan sitting in a bar full of people who've never watched the game and are all arguing over every down because they have a favorite team, but don't actually know the rules of the game.

Facebook is worth keeping for marketplace, groups/events, and background research on someone.

The "wall" is garbage and the best thing to do is unfollow everyone and keep a very select few people you care to get their random posts from such as close family and good friends. 95% should be unfollowed in everyone's lists.

I accept FB "friends" just to have their contact should I ever want to contact them or me. No different than having their number in my phone. Otherwise I don't need to see what they ate or watch their kids hair grow with a 5 min time interval.

Nope, no problem here. I feel social media is a tool, like a knife. Some people will harm themselves with it, some can use it as they want without issues. The same person who gossips on FB will do the same via texting or chatting with a friend they run into at the store. The same person who gets depressed seeing everyone else only show off their success, can easily have the same effects finding out in real life their cousin got a promotion, their sister is getting married and the neighbor got a new Mercedes.

Perfect reason why FB and other modern social media will never replace forums for technical knowledge. That shit is gone if the user deletes their account, updates privacy settings etc.

I'm only on Discord and that is about it as there are a few groups that I belong to that has moved over there and my re-enactment group has also done the switch since Google took down their chat boards so forcing us to close up shop. But other than that nope I really do not have a huge footprint as they say as other than here all I have is my e-mail and that is it.

Got rid of Facebook about 4 years ago. I realized I was blocking multiple “friends” post because of their drama and right after someone tried to get me involved I deleted it right away. I didn’t find any appeal to it and haven’t missed it at all.

This is exactly why I'd like to see car related stuff go back to places like this. Let's also not forget how shitty the search function is on Facebook too.

I will also add that the amount of incompetent ****s that belong to those groups trying to give advice is staggering. I have had my CORRECT information deleted and the complete and utter BS that was spewed left on the page with no explanation.

I think the worst was watching a guy try and sell a fake or theft recovered terminator. I pointed it out to the page owner and in the post and nothing was done, literally no F's given. The dude even messaged and threatened me for pointing out his BS and the page owner didn't do a damn thing. All I was looking for was a warning to potential buyers nothing more.

I actually see private forums like this making somewhat of a comeback over the next 5-10 years. Many people are leaving FB and other social media platforms for various reasons. I haven't been on FB for 12 years but I would assume the tech quality is similar to youtube comments.
