Well folks it’s one step closer to a done deal. I went today and ordered the D1 sc 3 core intercooled procharger with the upgraded sheet metal intercooler. The kit also comes with dekka #60 injectors and one heat range cooler spark plugs. I hope to start piecing together parts over the course of a year to forge my motor next winter but, we’ll see how that goes. In the meantime it would be great to hear from you all on your builds and experiences with it. Thank you and peace.

And for those with experience with the D1 sc procharger what gains can I expect with the 3 core intercooler. Keep in mind I have longtubes with xpipe and straight pipe catback. As well as intake spacer 68 mm throttle body and jlt cold air intake which is irrelevant since I’ll be plumbing in the blower. Gonna run about 8 psi of boost. Thanks in advance.

You're not gonna get down to 8psi unless you wastegate it. With a 3.90" pulley I was at 12psi. Anything bigger you need to grind the valve cover.

That being said the intercooler doesn't add power. It just cools better. That intercooler always had my temps just above ambient. Even at 19psi.

I see. What kinda gains do you think I should expect running 8-10 psi? Or in other words do you think the D1SC is gonna be worth the investment?

Why wouldn't the D1 be worth the investment? I never dynoed my car, but the car my blower came off of was making mid to high 400's on a conservative tune. You have to decide if it's worth it.

I was speaking of the procharger in general the only reason I said D1 is due to that being the one I’m getting. Just having second thoughts on the horror stories I’m reading in forums about people popping their motors just gently getting on the freeway and what not. Just hate to think I will have to be scared to use the power with stock bottom end.

You can grow into the D1 if you plan on building the motor.

Look, the "horror" stories you are reading online usually are not the complete story. There are additional factors that went into the fact the motor let go.

These motors hold boost and make some power if the setup is on point and precautions are taken. Do your HW. The biggest factor is the tune IMO. You need to find a tuner who looks at timing/safety as the most important factor. There are tons of tuners out there who go for max RWHP no matter the cost on the dyno. Then people wonder why it let go after 2-3k miles.

I'll be honest, if you put a blower on your car and constantly worry about whether its going to pop its going to be a miserable experience. If that is the case, I wouldn't bother until you have more piece of mind with a built bottom end. Even then, you have to realize that things are going to break. Its part of the game.

In all honesty all you need to upgrade are the rods and pistons, it already has a Kellogg forged crank. I got a set of 04 Cobra Manley rods for not too much online, and a set of Manley forged pistons.

I'll be honest said:
What Dirks9901 said in post #8--Exactly said, If your going to go with a built up engine then wait till then to do your pro charger. Why waste time and money on your stocker if you are going to build your BAdaz Mustang?-------either way you risk "popping" the motor. The more horsepower the more money and less longevity.

I was trying to quote Dirks0001 but it didnt show up --only my response above??

I have a great tuner Tim Rodheaver. He told me 400 rwhp to be safe 450 to push it. I said lets meet in the middle at 425 and see what happens. He replied he will do what the car tells him to. This dude is legit the last thing I would want in a tuner is a car salesman for a tuner. On the side of that I’m already saving and buying in advance what parts I can such as gaskets and hardware. My goal is 600 wheel. Won’t happen for to long on stock block.

Stopped out at my mechanics garage today and added a boost gauge and oil gauge with the housing that holds them around the insert where my speedo is. I also got a shift light and we are gonna set it to 6300 rpm and limit redline to 6600 rpm. On the side of that I also got a catch can for motor oil and an off-road x pipe. Gonna throw magna flows back in. Oh and he said he ordered the pro charger for an 8-10 psi set up plus we ordered a tubular bumper support to allow more air flow to the intercooler.

Quick question for you all. Would it make much a difference if I were to switch my flowtech longtubes for kooks? Keep in mind my flowtechs are ceramic coated 1 5/8 primaries and 3 inch collector going out 2 1/2 inch set up.

I remember years ago when I put a p1sc 460whp on my stock 01 Cobra motor. Felt good putting my buddies GTO in the rear view mirror. Then it started pushing oil out the breather.

Build for boost or chance it.

Well folks the D1 is in and scheduled to go in next Wednesday. I’m pretty pumped to see how different the car will be. I’ve been putting in some overtime and I am so far halfway to my motor build for this coming winter. Thinking of Livernois heads also.

Car is in the shop now getting the D1sc installed. I will post dyno numbers as soon as we get it up and running.
