What is spacetime?

What blows my mind absolutely out of the water is the concept of time being bent, or non-linear.

How can someone standing in one place experience the equivalent of 24 hours, and someone else standing somewhere else not experience 24 hours in the “same” timeframe.

Because it's relative. Both people experience the same 24 hours, just differently.

Astronauts in the ISS go through time faster than we do on earth due to gravity. GPS satellites proved that quite long time ago, they have correction factors built in for the difference that gravity on earth creates.

Here's my unanswered question: Does the universe spin? Everything in the universe does spin. Conservation of angular momentum seems to be an absolute. So: does the universe itself spin? And how could we tell, if it does? Or doesn't? And what would the answer, either way, mean to us?
Good question. My question to that is, in relation to what? What do we compare it to?

Move on, nothing to see here.

Time dilation. The faster you go, the slower you experience time, compared to a stationary observer. Driving your car fast, ages you less!

This has been proven with orbiting atomic clocks. If you could go the speed of light, time would stop. ISS astronauts, will be 0.01s younger than us, when they return, for every year spent orbiting. Converts to 0.0008s younger per month.

I knew I was going to feel dumb for clicking a Snover post.
Turns out I was correct.
People tell me I'm smart. Honest, I just don't see it. Seriously. I'm barely average, on a good day. After a good night's sleep, without an overly-filling breakfast. And I may be giving myself too much credit, aiming for "average."
False.

Have you heard of one they call AOC?
I concede the point. Well done, sir. Very well done.

Almost anyone can read/learn/understand theoretical physics if they have the interest. The true smart people are the one's who come up math and engineer the instruments

Two sides of the same coin. Somebody has to figure out something can be done. Then somebody has to figure out how to use it. Then another somebody has to figure out how to make a buck on it.

Take super sonic passenger flight: they figured out the sound barrier can be broken, then somebody built the plane to carry paying passengers who loved the short travel time. But nobody ever figured out how to really make a buck off it, and they scrapped it at the first chance they got.

Time slows down for the people observing you as you edge close to light speed, not for you. You will still experience time passage as normal. This is time dilation, and is due to relativity.

I think you over analyzed my simple point lol

Interesting discussion, all I know is I had trouble with relativity in physics in college. Had the book in the charcoal grill after the final. Drank some Boone's Farm and roasted a few dogs over it. Good times.

5:45 "Faithfully rendering a forth denominational geometry is strictly impossible so we must find a TRICK".... that statement in itself makes that video worthless.
I do not understand why we feel the need to visualize things it is by far one of our worst senses but the one we trust the most..

Because our brains are 85% wired up for processing visual information. It’s our “go-to.” And the other senses can all be fooled as well, and some are useless for discussions in physics. Sense of smell? Might keep you alive in a chemical plant. Won’t help you understand extra dimensions.
