Wow shockingly disappointed. I just watched the unveiling press conference.

Like you guys all are saying.....

I was left with the feeling of .....

That's it????

I don't think they will get very many reservations for this one.

I really think Ford moved the goal post with this truck. To me the Ford F-150 lightning means a fast street truck and Ford took the name and made this lightning a more all around utility truck. This is nothing like what they did with the Gen 2 Raptor vs the Gen 1 Raptor.

this new lightning should’ve been a single cab lowered 650hp 800tq Sub 3.5 sec 0-60 EV monster. I just feel like Ford moved the goal post on what the lightning badge means and for that reason..... I’m out!

I agree but the reality is they need mass appeal and this will have it head and shoulders above a “performance” truck.

Ah lets review such giants of vehicle names that Ford made over the years

Edsel, Monarch, Pinto, MUSTANG II, Versailles, Fiesta Mk I, Tempo and now Lightning 3rd Gen. Again most truck owners do not want a EV vehicle or Musk would of already brought out his crude carved block of soap for an EV truck out and being sold.

Like I said in another thread, I guarantee Ford will use another iconic name on a base-ass EV to bring attention to it. Whoring out names.

I think they'll sell a ton of them.

a base truck at 40k, take off the 7500 tax incentive or whatever it is, they'll sell the shit out of them.

Until the range is 400+ miles and 300kw charging Im not interested

For back and forth to work, I could be interested but it wouldn't replace my ICE trucks until they up that range up a bit.

That's actually Farley's strategy. He states as much in this months MotorTrend interview. I'm paraphrasing but he wants transition the company to all EV by bringing out EV legacy models. Mustang, F-150, ??? . Not sure what's next but I'm sure a plethora of electric suv's and cuv's.

I make a 1200 mile round trip 2-4 times per year. Assuming the charging stations were located roughly where I needed them (lets say 50 miles of range left) and no waiting in line, it would add 1.5 - 2 hours by my rough math, seems to be best case scenario. If they aren't where I need them and have to wait 40 minutes for someone else to charge suddenly its 2-4 hours. That's not acceptable on a trip that takes me 9-9.5 hours in an ICE. I couldn't justify multiple trucks at this point.

Yea, for long trips I can't see the point of electric only cars unless you get off on standing around at charging stations for 30 minutes every few hours.
lol

Only see upside in town driving/back and forth short distance trips.

At 40k base, with heavy incentives it's not bad. But anything much higher I lose interest fast.

Most HP and TQ of any f-150 in history...”BuT ItS NoT a ReAL LiGhTnINg.”

Better embrace it gents. EVs are the future and this is a base platform for a legitimate EV truck. Not a legitimate EV Ford truck...all EV trucks. And unlike the Rivian or cyber truck a normal, middle class guy can afford it.

These will sell. And then five years after the proof of principle, Ford could introduce a legitimate hot rod EV truck.

I think it’s great but I won’t be replacing my 650whp truck for one in the near future.

Ford is Ded to me if they do that.

They've already committed to stop selling ice in Europe and China by 2030. Look out for the Shelb-E

Oh stop with that faggotry. EV's cannot replace ICE for a very long time to come. There just isn't enough power plants to support it. Nor is there a plan to bring any online. Also how old is the existing grids that transfer the power? 50, 60, 70 years old?

Also electric won't work in many industries. Construction is one of them, Freight is another. What are you going to bring a giant windmill to charge up your bulldozer or backhoe on site?

Where are they getting all the power to supply these batteries and where are they getting all these batteries from?

They can't get the money to fix the roads and bridges we drive on. God damn Eisenhower built the roads you're driving on today, when The Honeymooners were in their first run and the Corvette still had inline 6cyl.

EV's are good for the urban driver and certain other situations like virtue signaling. Don't get me wrong I like some of them and have nothing against them but they are not the future, maybe 50 years from now.

I’ve said it a million times. Aside from the politics of EV which I think is garbage and their environmental impact, also not as advertised, I will never be remotely interested until I can charge in under 5 minutes for a 600+ mile range (aka electric has to be more useful to me than my current truck before I will even consider it). Even then there is still a lot I don’t like about EV.

First. Underwhelmed as usual. But its a Ford reviling so what else is new.

Obviously there are a ton of issues with EV that are not close to being solved so IMO, ICE will be here for awhile.

However, I think its interesting that Porsche/VW is heavily investing in synthetic fuel (Efuel) which from what I understand would cause little to no changes with current ICE and is 0 carbon emission. If that takes off, EV is up shits creek assuming there isn't government intervention to force EV

Porsche already announced all of their line up will be electric except the 911.

Of course. They have too by 2030 in EU.

Efuel is so people can keep older models on the road longer as well as sell new performance based ICE vehicles in EU like the 911. If its fully developed, has 0 carbon emissions and cheap (so they say) yes, its going to be a problem for EV based on charging time and all of the other issues.
