The driver's side window motor in my 03 just quit working out of the blue the other day with 14,Xxx miles on it. When I hit the switch you hear a clear click like the switch is making contact and my lights will dim so I believe it's the motor not working.

Years ago when the car had sub 10000 miles on it the window wouldn't go down once and I got mad and slammed the door and it started working. I did some research at the time and found that often the factory motors had bad solder joints or something on the electrical side that was a fairly quick/simple fix. There was even a how to guide I had found but now I can't find it

Anyone have any info on it as I doubt the motor burned up, trying to help the window while hitting the switch does nothing.

If I could just buy a new oem motor I would but I'm not excited about auto parts store stuff.

If the lights dim power is been drawn and the motor is likely bound up by something. I wouldn’t suspect a bad solder joint yet.

You got it as usual. I tore the door apart tonight and began to remove the motor but it was stuck in there and wouldn't come out. I then turned on the key and hit the window switch and the motor came to life. I tried it multiple times and then put the door back together.

The last time I know the motor worked I put the car cover on the car. Then needed to open the hood, I lifted up one corner of the cover then opened the door, I know the cover put some tension on the window, maybe that jammed it.

I think you get a dead spot in the electric motor, slamming the door is like tapping the starter with a hammer
