$22k deposit....but how much for it?

Also, good thing it's booked until 2023, I have about 25lbs to lose.

That is really neat.
* Software limited to 63mph.
* 20 minute flight time.
* $92K total cost for complete vehicle, delivered as a "partially (50%) assembled kit for home completion. It contains everything you need, from the aluminum space frame to motor controllers, propellers and motors. You will also receive detailed build instructions."

So many questions associated with this:
Are there going to be altitude restrictions with this?
Will the FAA control this similar to a Part 107 license?
This is an airspace and security nightmare..I'm sure two way communication with ATC would be needed entering different class airspace. Restricted areas and TFR's are everywhere. Seems like a neat idea don't get me wrong but there are more headaches than it's worth.

How long of a charge to get 20 minutes of flight time? If I was a billionaire, maybe, but then again still looks like a waste of $92k

Intesting step, but when it comes to flying your much better off to go in with a friend or two and share a single engine, unpressurized aircraft with a reasonable rate of fuel burn (ie Piper PA-28 Cherokee, which can fly to KC and back cheaper than a car) and split the annuals.
20mins... I get 30 per battery on my drone.. That thing needs a diesel generator and variable geometry props to really dig in and carry a real payload.

Just wait til these become hot and then the bigger manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus get in on the action and start building them for the masses... hell, maybe even Ford could get back into the air travel business and build something exciting again. Got to start somewhere.

A VERY LARGE % of the population has questionable driving skills, are we ready to turn them loose in the sky ?
Don't maintain your car, it stops running, don't maintain your Jetson 1 & it falls out of the sky..

That could accurately be describe as a contraption.

Contraption

noun
  1. a machine or device that appears strange or unnecessarily complicated, and often badly made or unsafe

Used in a sentence #1

If you fly in a contraption, you will be seriously injured or die.

Used in a sentence #2

If you fly in a contraption, you are not a pilot, you are a crash test dummy.
