Is the trucking concept that you’re buying a semi truck or fleet and then making it available to drivers or are you also establishing contracts to move freight? (I clearly know nothing about this industry)

One guy at worn had nine trucks and is partners with his Dad and brother.

Combined, they manage everything.

Gets all his loads off different websites/apps. People basically put out their requests and you search by location/destination. He has recurring stuff that’s the same route across a couple states a couple times a week.

Another guy has one truck and pays a dispatcher to basically manage the truck. Gets the loads. Directs the driver etc. He pays that guy 8% of gross. He still nets 4-5k a month

We have a franchise. The royalties we pay are ridiculous...

Wow all the trucking talk makes me appreciate how profitable driverless autonomous semis will be for tesla.

I’m somewhat near the Bay Area. I’d say around 500K is killing it.

One dude owns a Tropical smoothie and is partnered in two more.

His partner owns like 4 and has some pizza franchises.

Sounds like they net about 10% and a low store is 500k gross annually and upper end 800-900k.

I decided against it for now due to not wanting a bunch of employees that I would likely want to kill after a week or two lol.

The guys that own semis do great. That’s what I’m leaning towards in the immediate future.

Look into insurance costs, fuel costs, tires, maintenance etc…you’d be surprised what it cost to run one. Then if you throw a dumb ass driver in it, check the price of a clutch and front end parts that they’re going to tear up.

My heavy haul driver just got my truck serviced today for around $1k.

Insurance for a new dot number is like $20k a year…getting cheaper over the next several years that you don’t have a claim. I have $10mm coverage for my crane business and it costs me about $15k a month but my trucking gets thrown under that.

My trucks aren’t running nonstop, and I still spend $15k a month in diesel…

Just food for thought.

Ya the guys that do it laid it all out for me. Trucks usually gross 18k a month or so.

Lots of factors.

What’s the differential between your GROSS and your NET?

If you gross $350K but only bring home $150K you’re not killing it.

Not at all saying you can’t make money, or not to do it, just throwing what little I know out there.

It really is all about the driver. They will make or break you.

Rgr that. I have a pretty good network between the guys that do it and I am graduating from a tech school with my CDL this week. Work sent me since we have some heavy equipment to move around sometimes. But I volunteered for the outside employment opportunities.

I’ll be able to reach back to the instructors at any time for driver recommendations.

That’s a horrible return for how much work franchises are

My wifes cousin owns like 13 Jersey Mikes. They say you have to own multiple locations to really make money. They dont work at the stores at all. Wife, husband and son in law all work at their own little corporate office where they manage the restaurants from. They have a BIG nice house in the denver area with some nice rides.

We owned multiple Dairy Queen’s growing up. Mom is a pharmacist and dad is a dentist. You don’t make big money working in the store. It’s better to pay a manager 50-75k and earn your money elsewhere.

"killing it" would be REALLY big money. jets, yachts, shit like that. in this clip gordon gekko says between $50m-100m... and that was back in 1987. lol can't imagine what it would be now.

I was considering that to be “**** you” money
