Yikes. I knew we were low here but that is crazy. You in MO or KS?

Missouri.

In all fairness, I bought my house last year... it was a couple years old, and the current assessed value was about 75% of the purchase price.

You won't see a change until layoffs start rolling in...

As mentioned, look who is laying off.

There are help wanted signs in every damn business I enter in this town.

Signs saying hiring all positions at all locations.

Does make me scratch my head how we have a low unemployment rate yet all these signs. Like where did all the people that used to fill these jobs go?

Forgot to mention, even the dry cleaner here bumped their two day turn around to four days. Kid at the counter said nobody wants to work lol.

No one is looking for a job on those income offerings. They're above it.

Added another blurb elaborating on this head scratcher.

It’s not like these people don’t exist anymore. And if they don’t want to work, where does the money come from. Stim ended a long time ago I thought. Yet the mall is full of these retards spending money.

Credit cards.

I've seen more credit card debt in the last 6 months than I've ever seen.

Wait til these idiots renew their medical benefits. Lol!

I told y’all that people would be happy to double down on failure and they did. Just need a third and fourth time to see how many people can die off.

Shorty thing is the best thief in the world (any taxing entity) will never reduce your taxes when your home value goes down.

Conspiracy is... when we went into lockdowns millions of illegals fled BACK to Mexico and South America as they were unable to work here.

They never came back... so now we are crippled because Americans still don't want to do all the jobs that the illegals did.

They actually do reduce your property taxes here in CA when/if your assessed value declines. I have some good friends who bought their house at the precise wrong time ahead of the great recession market decline. Their taxes went down significantly, sadly so did the value of their house. But, it's now worth about twice what they paid for it.

I'd be trippin' if my property tax went up $650 a month. My property tax is about $10,500 based on an assessed value of about $900k. The max it can go up by law is 2% per year, or about $18 a month.

We are allowed to protest our valuation every 2 years in Missouri, most people miss the deadline to protest, which is by July 1st. My county normally mails them out around June 1st so you only have 3 weeks to build your case and protest.

I was able to get my property tax lowered by 25% or so back in 2010 after the last collapse. I plan on protesting again if the value drops enough.

Here's a good one. I went to Wally world with the wife this weekend. Weeks ago A 48 count of bottles of water was $3.89 she said. Now it's $6.39 for a 34 count. How's that? The water supply couldn't have changed the cost. It has to be packaging and shipping? Nope, greed has to be the major contributing factor.

With you on the front lines and seeing people's finances daily, I'd be interested in more trends you've been seeing.

Financing terms are getting stretched wider than Planter's sugar hole.

They'll reduce them here too...but not nearly as fast as they raise them

In 2016 I bought 2 houses, the properties touched. In 2017 I tore down one of the houses and left the lot vacant. In 2018 they raised my taxes on the nonexistent house by $3700/year. I called and asked how they came up with that raise, and they said they drove by and took pictures. I said, well that's interesting. I filed for a demolition permit in July of 2017 and had you guys out before and after it was completed later that month. She said "oh".

Two weeks later I got a letter stating it was taking my tax down to $850, aka the value of the land.

Yep. I drink Monster Energy drinks. They were $2.50 per...or 3 for $6. Now they're $3.89 per haha

Well that def is a conspiracy.

The amount of illegals coming in now is staggering. Has been for more than two years.

And the GOV is letting them all free into the US.

Also, a very small percentage go work in the front side of a business like me or the average Joe sees a help wanted sign in. They work out of sight for the most parts. Plants, factories, ag.

Somehow ours did not go up this year which has been an anomaly as everyone else I know, outside coworkers, has gone up a bit.

Next year will be interesting for our group though.

Ours are the same with lower premiums actually. They acquired probably 500+ employees so the cost naturally went down…which I’m was still surprised to see.
