First big miss for me on Boil/KOLD

The weekly draw of nat gas reserves ending Dec16 came in at 87BCF vs an expected 89BCF.

They are expecting a much bigger jump than normal for next week due to the extreme cold snap. Also expect production to miss when plants/lines close for a few days due to weather.

Had to go pretty deep on Boil to average down to where I’m only upside down @9%

Starting out upside down but my most profitable trade on KOLD went exactly the same way.

Sold my Kold a little early last week and been sitting on the side. Finally started a position in Boil today, first buy at $22.

I think you’ll be in good shape.

I’ll be really surprised if we don’t see a considerable bump late next week and carrying into early Jan, barring some warm weather reports.

For whatever reason, Boil moves more than KOLD. Thought it was 4x leveraged as well but maybe not.

My concern with the above article is if the weather clears up substantially, reducing the draw.

Have to take that into consideration before next Thursday.

Take a look at the NG F chart in relation to the June 6 Freeport Mcmoran plant explosion.

Freeport Mcmoran is an exporter. There are at least two tankers that have been loitering in the gulf waiting for it to reopen.

Initially the thought was it would be closed only 3 weeks.

Regardless, this is why the price tanked when it closed. Major reduction in demand.

I suspect the price increase 3 weeks down the road was then thinking it would reopen. Can’t find any articles that suggest otherwise.

Currently, the plant is scheduled to reopen second half of Jan23.

At what price do you usually buy in the BOIL? It's around $21 this morning. I'm watching the KOLD stock as it's $23.80 now, I got in at $13.10. I'm thinking to sell and be happy with my profit with that.

This is only my second run with Boil.

Last time I went in at 26, exited 36.

Solid job on KOLD for you! Def wouldn’t be wrong to sell.

What I did last time was start buying BOIL incrementally while I was still holding KOLD.

I think this crazy warm snap we’re getting is holding Nat gas prices from going up. I really don’t know what way things are going to go in the next week or two.

This was my second time selling KOLD and it did very well.

So it looks like BOIL is down. KOLD is up at least for the couple months I've watched it. Hard to believe it was $1700+ a share in 2020 and BOIL at $38k in 2011.

Ya pretty wild. It snaps up there and comes right back down though. Catching the top would be very hard and you might miss good gains trying to time it.

I'd have a hard time not selling if it hits 500. Cashing out 38 times my investment would be a dream come true.

Haha no kidding.

That would be unreal.

At times I wonder if I’m gonna be stuck with my Boil for a bit. Maybe gas will trickle down to its steady old $3 area. Boil and cold would still swing back and forth on news moderate price changes though. Not worried at all at $23.

If you go back through the splits.
1 of today's shares is 1/1000th of a share.

It was only $38/ per share, not 38,000, they dilute as it heads to zero... which is built into the structure of the ETF.

It's down 99.7% since inception.

Kinda figured that 38k wasn’t right. Hadn’t gone back that far.

I’ve gone in and out of KOLD 3 times and BOIL once. Don’t give two shits about its YTD.

I WANT them to go up and down.

+@40% since I started in mid Nov.

I was thinking something wasn't right about that. Sorry i'm new to this. Since a lot of stocks are low now I look to see what was the max or how did it perform in the last five years to get an idea where it normally trades.

So here’s the real question

With Southwest Airlines stock in free fall…

What’s the bottom?
