At least Chev fielded one Vette.

Sad. Lotsa virtue signaling like, "We're being good stewards, using fewer tires this year".
No Fords btw. But they advertise F150's and Ford Performance. At least that's in their ESG/DEI/Cuck business plan.

I watched it for a few minutes last night. Not a lot of interest on this end.

Think it was this morning, Commentators were talking about the Caddy's in GTP.
Paraphrasing,"Just listen to these V8 Cadillacs! Cadillac stayed with V8's instead of moving to twin turbo V6's, because V8's are their strength. Cadillac Engineers also work hard to get the sound of their V8's just perfect too".

And it's all going away. I just smh.

They said not too long ago they're about keeping the sounds and smells in it for the fans. So I dunno about "going away."

Oh. I don't want it to ever go away.

The tires comment made me want to puke.

Geez, what about all the tire rubber used up by spectators just driving to the track in their personal vehicles?
What about the delivery trucks tires used bringing bottled water to the track for the spectators?
And the jet fuel used by the cargo planes that hauled the cars and support equipment from Europe to Daytona for the race?

LOL.

So is this yet another sport/hobby that's going to limited to the rich elites?

Piped in ICE sounds and petrol smells?
Ford already pipes engine sound in my Mustangs interior - lol. It's so ghey.

The tire savings is part of the move to save running costs so more competition can run.

Many series have had tire limits for decades.

Ok, you know more about it than me. Seriously.
But that's not how it was presented by the commentators.

It would be like Formula E a few years back; run your car til battery is spent, come in to pit & get in another car w a charged battery.

Wonder how many cars they'd need to do a 24 hours race?

5.5L DOHC CPC running 8,800 rpms. It's a bespoke engine that has nothing to do with the Z06 5.5L. It's simply the class displacement limit.

Crazy how LMP2 could be decided by 0.016 seconds after 24 hours.
I was jumping up and down with excitement even though I didn't give a shit about either team, the only P2 I wanted to see up top was Ben's.

I did want a Caddy to win in GTP, but the Acuras had so much pace.
