Thanks, that shits real old school stuff. Didn't they redo them for switch signals?

All the switch/mast signal utilities are run underground.

I believe they did this back in the 80’s when the D&H/B&M redid their main lines.

The system shows it’s age anytime it rains as water seepage causes issues with our signals.

So, those wires are basically junk. That's what i've seen on all the rail crap I watch. Interesting they're still there though.

Yup. Just relics from years past. For my RR at least they don’t really clean up after repairs or derailments. They’ll just leave everything off to the side.

We used to have those along our tracks, also.
The wire would turn green indicating it was copper.
I found out from the old heads, it was steel wire with a copper jacket or coating.
The copper kept the steel from rusting and probably helped with conductivity.

Roku has the NHRA channel. Last night they ran a several hour show of '60's races. I think all the races were at Pomona.

Think these were from '60 Championship:

(afaik 1st year of the 327)
It runs a 9.78 ET.

I don't have Roku, but I would have loved to have seen that several hour special. Southern California NHRA racing was THE best back in the day.
