Because of how much acting as a man affected her psyche. She probably expected it to be much better than it really was for her. It depressed her so much it put her in the psyche ward being suicidal. Not saying she was a great person or a Conservative hero but she was definitely against the current left wing party and identity politics. I think that carries more weight given it was someone who actually had a brain and used it yet was still overcome by depression from her time acting as a man.
