Ford CEO Warns Employees

Story by Douglas A. McIntyre • 25m ago

Ford CEO Warns Employees
Ford CEO Warns Employees© Provided by 24/7 Wall St.
Embattled Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) CEO Jim Farley had a town hall meeting. According to The Wall Street Journal, he is reworking performance metrics. As Ford has increasing financial troubles, it should be considered a warning: Our reputation for quality is under siege. Get better at what you do, or these new metrics may cost you your job.
Ford finds itself in a terrible position. Farley said it had “left $2 billion on the table” as the company announced earnings. Earlier in the year, Ford missed expense estimates by $1 billion. Farley also said Ford needed 25% more engineers to do the work competitors do. If that is not a warning about layoffs, what is? (Click here for the American tech companies that laid off the most people last year.)
Ford has raised and then lowered electric vehicle (EV) prices. First, component prices were too high, which meant increasing prices to maintain margins. Later, it cut the price of the Mustang Mach-E, likely because the EV market had been hit by a price war started by Tesla. Presumably, that means margins on the Ford car will be compressed.

Farley needs to get his tenure restarted. The Ford family is known for dumping CEOs when results turn poor. This means employees will need to take the brunt of whatever he does as he tries to turn Ford from a poorly run company to one with mediocre results.

Ford wants to catch Tesla in sales. That will be nearly impossible, at least in the next few years. Tesla may sell as many as 2 million cars this year. Ford will be lucky for its EV sales to hit the hundreds of thousands.
Soon, Ford will have fewer employees than it does today.

What a dynamic, team building, leadership statement by Farley:

Kinda disagree.

If the captain says, "Full speed ahead" into the iceberg, there isn't a ****ing thing the crew can do.

Besides Vanguard, Blackrock forcing them, "go woke, go broke". That's what the chynese want.

Isn't chyna going chopsticks-out building cars to sell here in the USA?

Didn't some of the US mfrs attempt to pull some parts out of chyna last fall too?

In the same week, Farley says Ford is entering Formula 1 and tells his employees they missed their expense estimates by a billion dollars, so they better get better at their job or they will lose it. Interesting tactic.

When are they gonna realize that EV/Battery Tech is a ****ing Blackhole?

When one of these big three finally says, " Nah. were gonna continue to build and improve on ICE tech as long as its the most viable option for customers..." Itll be a shit show as they RAPE the market in sales and the others tank.

The EPA is doing the same thing as the EU, effectively banning ICE with emission regulation way before the law ban dates.

GM shines, Ford fails to impress in new J.D. Power dependability study ranking

Excerpt:

What's happening at Ford?

Of 31 brands studied, the bottom four worst were Ford, Audi, Lincoln and Land Rover.

"The thing with Ford is they had a high launch mix in 2020, including Aviator, Corsair, Explorer, Escape," Frank Hanley, senior director, auto benchmarking at J.D. Power, told the Free Press. "Launch vehicles tend to have more problems. So that's what impacted the Ford and Lincoln brands. Lexus and Toyota have consistently been at the top of vehicle dependability charts over the years. Their quality numbers are consistent."

Ford and Lincoln ranked above average in the 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, Ford spokesman Said Deep told the Detroit Free Press on Thursday, "Both internal and external data shows that we are improving initial product quality for our customers. ... We know we still have a lot of work to do, which is why delivering high-quality products continues to be our top priority."

Ford to build $3.5B plant: report

By Brad Kallet, Editor at LinkedIn News
Ford is set to build a $3.5 billion electric vehicle battery plant in Michigan, anonymous sources tell Reuters. The plant, which will likely be constructed in the Marshall, Michigan area, will reportedly be operated by Ford and CATL, a Chinese battery manufacturer. The two companies will develop the batteries together, Reuters reports. The lithium iron phosphate battery plant is expected to provide more than 2,500 jobs. Assuming Ford owns the plant outright, the batteries will likely qualify for tax credits as part of last year's Inflation Reduction Act.

Ford extends F-150 EV production pause amid fire risk

F -1.78%Feb. 24, 2023 11:59 AM ET1 Comment

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is extending a shutdown in production at its F-150 Lightning pickup plant after amid concerns about a battery fire risk for the electric trucks.
The extension will lead to the fourth week of paused production at the plant after the initial announcement of a battery issue and production pause on February 5. The automaker had previously indicated it knew the root cause of the problem on February 15. The automaker now says it is extending the shutdown as South Korean battery partner SK On will need time to implement changes in power cell production.
"SK has started building battery cells again in Commerce, Georgia," the automaker said in an emailed statement. "It will take SK time to ensure they are back to building high-quality cells and to deliver them to the Lightning production line."
Elsewhere, production pauses for the 2023 Ford Escape and 2023 Lincoln Corsair were reportedly extended due to an unresolved software issue. According to Ford Authority, the production of the vehicles has been on hold for several weeks as well.

Ford Korea considers adopting online sales system next year

SEOUL, March 2 (Yonhap) -- Ford Motor Co. is considering selling its vehicles online in South Korea from next year as its rivals increasingly adopt the online sales system to boost sales in Asia's fourth-biggest economy.

Ford Korea Managing Director David Jeffrey commented on the U.S. carmaker's possible plan to sell its models online as well on the sidelines of the launching event for the upgraded Ford Ranger pickup truck.

Carmakers, including the country's leading carmaker Hyundai Motor Co., Tesla, Inc. and Honda Korea Co., have recently introduced online sales platforms to woo local customers in one of the world's most connected countries.
"We are doing that in many markets around the world now, and I think in the not too distant future we will probably start doing that here in Korea probably next year," Jeffrey told Yonhap News Agency.

Pretax, Ford makes around $10,000 to $17,000 on its pickups. They pay for everything else Ford is trying to do. If the Feds kill pickup ICE with bans or emissions before the big 3 figure out EV's, they die.

The Ford Maverick Is Gaining 80,000 Models to Meet Demand

Story by Allison Barfield • Yesterday 2:15 PM

We have great news for Ford Maverick fans out there. If you’ve missed your chance to jump on this little truck, don’t worry. A few upgrades are on the way to increase production and pump out more 2024 Ford Maverick models.

2024 Ford Maverick production is increasing

It’s time to cut down the Ford Maverick waiting list and increase manufacturing speed. According to AutoBlog, the 2024 Ford Maverick production will increase by 80,000 models in 2023. The number of Maverick models produced by year is currently unknown.

However, the 2023 Maverick had over 100,000 reservations before the order books closed. This could mean that production in 2023 will nearly be doubled. A few more Hybrid models may be available.

This move is based on increasing sales and demand. In February, Ford’s market share increased from 1.4 to 13.2 percent, and sales grew by 21.9 percent. Ford is the number one selling brand and the top truck/SUV manufacturer.
Kumar Galhotra, Ford Blue president, shared that Ford has an excellent start with 2023 sales and is moving to fast-track quality production. Increasing production benefits customers and businesses.

Clues about the 2024 Ford Maverick have been difficult to find. But the order books for the 2023 Maverick opened in the summer of 2022, and production started around November. We can expect a similar pattern.

It’s possible that the 2024 Maverick reservations will open in August and September, then the new models will enter production in the fall. But of course, Maverick production is subject to delays.

Farley needs to follow his own advice. "Get better at what you do, or these new metrics may cost you your job."
