This car spent it's whole life in Arizona before we purchased it in May of 2022. It's a 1 owner car and likely daily driven as it has 17,500 miles.

The front bumper is horrible, multiple rock chips and bad paint touch ups. I do have a new bumper and splitter, but undecided when I want to have that done. I'd need to replace those stripes or have them completely removed and have stripes painted on. So for now I'm leaving it.

I'm still a novice when it comes to detailing, but I feel I'm getting better. I couldn't capture a lot of the paint defects with my camera. But it has scratches all over the car. Even some deep rock chips, one on the roof and two on the passenger side rear fender area.

The car was washed before winter storage, so I wiped it down and then clay barred it.

I used a couple different products. I tested the hood first from start to finish.

For the hood I used:

-Porter Cable DA polisher

-Wolfgang Uber compound, with lake country orange cutting pads.

-Wolfgang finishing glaze, with lake country white polishing pads.

-Wolfgang paint sealant wax, with lake country black finishing sealant/wax pad.

I then proceeded to use this same process on the drivers side front fender and didn't like the results as much. Tons of scratches on the panels. So I decided to switch compounds.

-Griot's fast acting cream, with lake country orange cutting pads.

Moving forward I'll be using:

-Griots correcting cream next with lake country white polishing pads.

-Wolfgang paint sealant wax.

The first step is almost complete, I still need to go over the front and rear bumpers, wing, and mirrors.

Misc products used:

- Carpro Tar X for black residue removal.

- Carpro Eraser. This works awesome for wiping panels down before applying the next polish. Cleans up the surface and less static. Works great for window cleaner as well!

In total I already probably have 8-9 hours in, including taping it off. I may try other products to cut down on time.

I'll keep this thread updated. So far the results are awesome.

Thanks for looking!

Nope. Once a week spray it down with soap and water. lol

Generally with my cars, I just spray them down with detail spray and rarely wash them with water. They never get that dirty because I drive them in nice weather.

Nice work on the detail. If you like the Wolfgang paint sealants and I do next detail try the Wolfgang SIO2 paint sealant. Its my favorite go to for last step products. I am partial to Sonax, Griot and 3D for my prep work products. Enjoy

Thank you. I will look into that. Next up will be the 03 cobra. That paint is in better condition, so I was planning on doing a 2 step process.

First Griots correcting cream followed by a sealant. I'm still unsure if I want to try Gyeon Q2 Mohs evo ceramic coating or just a sealant wax.

What do you use for the black plastic trim pieces?

Excellent. I really like using Griot correcting and fast correcting creams. But for my dark paint correction that need swirl and scratch removal especially on black I like Sonax cutmax for correction. I used my Porter Cable for years with no issues but moved up the last few years to the Griot G15 long throw polisher and I like it.

Not yet man, I’m about a year or so out before I’m really looking. However I’m very impulsive, I say that and you never know. However I’d really like a red with black stripes, or a grey with black stripes. Blue is a beautiful color, however I want to keep a blue car for my sonic.

Awesome, I think we are probably 1-2 years away from buying a 69 Camaro. But we too are impulsive buyers...

I totally understand on the color. I love grey with the black stripes. We already have too many reds and blues.

I really want a 69 Camaro in huggar orange with black stripes.

Last night I got some of the 2nd step polishing done. The drivers side, roof, and truck/spoiler is complete.

I've had second thoughts on what I want to use for my final step.

I go back and forth from the Wolfgang high gloss paint sealant that I already have, or wanting to try a ceramic coating like Gyeon Q2 Pure Evo.

But the car is basically a garage queen and only sees nice weather.

Nice, what did you use as your LSP?
Wolfgang high gloss paint sealant since I already had it. I was tossing around using a ceramic coating and even a good wax like Wolfgang fusion or pinnacle souveran.

I may try something different with another car.
