Does that M1A scout shoot .308 or .30 Carbine or something else?

It is a .308

NICE Springfields! I have a SOCOM II

Thanks, I am trying to decide what optics to put on my Scout, something red dot or close/medium range combat style optics. The only concern is that after putting multiple rounds down range, the picatini (sp) rail is HOT! I also plan to scope my standard with something for longer range.

Nice SOCOM! Have you had any issues with it?

how much did you pay for that barrett?

I bought my slightly used with the scope already on it, the original case and it was SL3 complete. I got it for mid 3 grand which is still a little less than what a new one goes for without the $1,000 Leopold already on it.

Nice M4's SRT-M4. I had a tricked out M4gery that I considered going piston but eventually sold to help fund one of my M1A's.

i thought the M1 shot 30-06 and the m14 .308?

You are correct, the M1A is the civilian version for the military M14 and was introduced by Springfield and others based on the M14's popularity . When the M14 was replaced it was never sold to civilian surplus (except for maybe LEO or in limited numbers to those with the appropriate permits), the military version had full auto selector switch and even with a de-mil'ed receiver, the design of the receiver was too easy for civilians to convert it back to full auto capable. Although I do not doubt that there are some out there that "slipped through the cracks".

The M1 Garand is the WWII rifle and it is .30-06, but new production models from Springfield can be had in .308.

I have the same Kimber NIB, I still have yet to do some range time with it. I like the M1A standard, I am looking at either one of those or an M1 Garand. Does the M1A standard come in 30-06?

My first line of defense.........
