Rob wanted to debate it, I was clearly stating the facts. No debeate needed make sure to tell Rob that too. have had 4 03 cobras all went pretty much same times, 12,40 to 12,80's one did make a 12,20 pass but was a fluke. Will make new post sorry about that.

Nope, not me, read further back. Post #23 is where the debate began. I just added facts to support the 00R, since this is a Cobra R forum and many have forgotten (or never knew) the facts.

I called on this 00R today. The guy was not willing to Email me any photos, and said "You've seen Mustangs before.. this one is nice. Take my word for it." I was serious in calling, and really interested. But, I'm 4 hours north of him.. and would like a couple pics of the car before I make the drive to see it. Is that too much to ask?

He said most of the miles on the car are track miles. I'm OK with that fact, as I plan to track one too. The car is located in So Cal.

Anyone know this car?

Too much money for $40K

Looks like lots of mods.

Paint looks bad.

Go there and see it. It's not that far.

I paid $42K for mine 07/07/07 and it's like new. 4000 miles.

Wow, you car looks great! I agree, the paint looks terrible in the one pic that is shown. I'm guessing (hoping) it's just a bad picture. That's why I was asking for a couple shots to be Emailed. Just seemed odd he was so unwilling.

The guy WAS very cool about answering questions. But, he did say the car did not have a cooler on the diff. Isn't that a "no no" for track 00R cars?

I think that is the worst photo of a car that I have ever seen! :dw: Somebody is trying to sell a car with a photo like that?!?!? Good luck!

I don't know the car personally.... I do know that it has been for sale in AutoTrader for at least a year now. In the previous pictures I have seen of the car it had Forgeline wheels on it. It was advertised with Bassani exhaust too. He has dropped the price quite a bit over the year. I think he started out asking ~$50K. He porbably is tired of sending pictures to tire kickers.... If I was serious and ready to buy a car. I would drive the 4 hours to look at it in person. The seller can make the pictures look as good (or bad) as he wants them, so on a car like this they really don't tell you much anyways. I can say the few better pics I have seen of the car it is always covered in dust and sitting on gravel.

Now might be the time to show him a serious buyer and make a serious reasonable cash offer. It sounds like he is tired of playing games with non-buyers and would most likely like to end the car selling circus. If you don't want to carry all the cash with you. I would at least take $2K with you for a serious deposit and make an offer..... if you don't want the Forgeline wheels or extra exhaust offer him $35K or ~$37K with everything. Worst he can say is NO.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of calling about this car. It does look well worn, not alot of info or pics, no email address, not much in the way of a 'communicator'. I don't care how tired you may be of tire kickers, but you never know who will buy it...so always put yer game face on, is my opinion.

I was wondering if there was a special "Mary Kay edition" of the 2000 Cobra R, it looks pink in those photos. :D

R

Maybe THAT is why he didn't want to send me pics! He is embarrassed!! HA HA!

In all seriousness to the "tire kicking" types of calls when selling a car... I have sold cars that brought on tire kickers too... my Pantera, a Cobra, and many other Stangs. Never once did I place an ad online, and not have additional pics of my vehicle available at the request of a possible buyer. I mentioned to the owner of the 00R that I currently own a modded '03 Cobra and a SuperFormance 427 Cobra. I also asked specific 00R related questions about his car. I was at a loss at his unwillingness to send additional info or pics. So, I gave up. I'll spend my 40K elsewhere.

It might be a great car. Good luck to anyone else that makes the phone call.

Ahhhh, the first of my two guesses, "sold behind the scenes". Two factory fiberglass hood/fuel cell cars side by side in the same garage is a unique site.

Very nice, congrats!!!

Did the agreed price fall in the range I had mentioned?

Nice!
All Cobras R or not have had glass hoods since 1996. I'm not sure about the '94 '95 models

Yes, my 95 Cobras do have fiberglass (or other composite) hoods, but they are of thick/heavy construction, regular production parts, there was a factory recall for hood seperation on my 95's. I guess I should have been more specific, "lightweight high rise fiberglass hoods and fuel cells". :-D
