Howdy all, I'm new. Just wanted some expert input on which tranny fluid is best for our car and why you think so. Thanks ahead!

Synchromesh has been linked to damaging a specific part of our transmissions, can't remember which but I have seen it listed here and Modfords. I use Redline D4 as recommended by those who roadrace Cobra's.

GM has been using the T56 for 18-20 years with GM synchomesh fluid (made by penzoil). Can you provide a link to this failure info?

Interesting, i'm thinking about changing the trans fluid in mine when I put in my MGW. i have heard nothing but good things about Amsoil's products in general, it'd be nice to see what else is available that cobra owner's have had success with

I had used Pennzoil Synchromesh (10k approximately) up until the early part of the winter. The tranny started shifting like crap and feeling real notchy as it got colder. It has shifted like a dream since switching the Castrol Dexron III ATF.

Another vote for Mobil 1

Put it in at 500 miles and replace it everytime I pull the tranny for any reason or try a new shifter.

I was going to try Royal Purple but I had a couple of cases of Mobil 1 from a really cheap sale at Kragen so I kept on using it.

I switched to it and immediately noticed a degrade in shifting cold or hot. I switched back to stock fluid and the shifting was smoother despite temperature. I wouldn't waste the $$$.
I'm a huge fan of their motor oils and have run them from day one, just not the ATF.
