@NHRACobra: That's true... the terrible Mustang "CLUNK" was the main reason ==> I'm a DD, so smoother shifting also a big benefit of the c/f driveshaft.

@venum03: Stock driveshafts are aluminum. My PST c/f has the steel yoke, but i'm not sure if it is 3 1/4" or 3 3/4", I guess it's a 3 3/4"...
If you've got the money, just eliminating the drivetrain clunk makes this mod a worthwhile investment IMO.

I agree 100% as long as it eliminates that damn clunk. Would like to hear from others who installed this CF drive-shaft.

@magstang1: Don't know exact numbers, but the torsional strength of c/f is three times the torsional strength of steel...

@NHRACobra: the c/f doesn't eliminate the Mustang "CLUNK" 100% but it's BIG time better ==> smoother shifting

I don't see how it can eliminate the clunk because it doesn't have any slop in it. Most my slop feels like it is in the axles. I guess the cf would dampen the noise maybe.

Thanks for the update. Even eliminating the majority of the clunk is a vast improvement.

Is it just me or could you use the driveshaft from say the mach 1 which is 600.00 vs. 800.00 dollars. I'm not sure if there is a diffrence so please enlighten me.

This is something I have been thinking about and thought I would ressurect this thread. Anyone have any other experience with these. It a lot of coin but seems to have more then one advantage. Perhaps something worth considering. Anyone interested in a group buy?

The pinion flange is different on the Cobra (it is considerably larger), so it wouldn't bolt in without using a hybrid U-joint. I'm not sure about the length, but I believe the Mach 1 driveshaft is a little longer since the Mach 1 uses a five speed transmission.

Is it the new driveshaft eliminating the clunk or the new u-joints?

Hell would freeze over before I spent that kind of coin on a cf ds.

I agree on the massive amount of paso's need to get one. If it was only a weight reduction thing I would take a "pass" on this. But it seems there are a lot more benefits to running one where I think it deserves some consideration.

The benefits it has over the aluminum one I've read about are.

1) No need for a drive shaft loop since it will self-destruct before it breaches the floor boards

2) takes up some of the shock loads on the driveline

3) 4 lbs. less rotating mass

4) slightly better acceleration

5) Smother shifting so people have stated

6) No move vibe and no indexing required...plug & play (a friend of mine who runs a twin turbo 300Z confirmed this which is what got me interested in one).

I'm not one for adding "bling" to my car but this may be of interest to me now. They do list a shaft for the Terminator. I would only buy the big hp version.

More :read: needed

Wow!!!!!!!! $925.00 that is steep. Anyone ask them what it would take to get a group buy and what the discount would be?
