I just had it installed in Dec when I was home from Korea so I only got to drive it for about 3 weeks after it was installed. I mainly got it to reduce rotating mass but it has made the driveline much smoother. No more of the loud clunky noises that I had before. There is only about a 3 pound difference between it and the stock aluminum one but the PST comes with heavy duty aluminum slip yokes and joints that make up a bit of the weight. A lighter DS with stronger parts it is definitely worth it compared to stock with weak joints.

what is the horse power ratings on these?

"Street" Carbon Fiber Driveshafts are good to approximately 500-600 rear wheel horsepower and feature 1330 joints. They can be used with a factory style pinion flange.
"Race" Carbon Fiber Driveshafts are currently being used on 2000 horsepower cars and features 1350 joints. They need to be used with a 1350 pinion yoke.

I've got one and love it. When I swap to a T-56, I'll be getting another one. However, when I do, I'll go ahead and drop the extra cash for the one with the aluminum yokes. There is nothing wrong with the steel yokes, but when you're talking that much money to begin with, what's a few $$$ more?????? Anyway, give Mark a call at PST and he'll answer any/all questions you've got. He's very pleasant to deal with.

Has anyone asked Mark if they are willing to do a group buy and if so what is the minimum number we need and what the cost savings would be?

I just sent an email to Arlene asking if it would be possible with ~5 or more.

Who would actually BUY one within the next week or two?

Just heard back,

it would have to be a GUARANTEED 10 people before they discuss pricing. Anyone want to head this up? :pepper:

Here is the problem; it will be very difficult to guarantee 10 buyers without knowing the price. I am sure if there is say a $100 savings 10 people may be easy to get, but if the savings is say $20-$25 it will be more difficult. I guarantee most of the people interested in a GP will want to know the cost before they commit. Point is I think they should be willing to quote us a price based on the number of buyers. In other words there is a $75 savings if we have 10 buyers, but if we get 20 there is a $100 savings.

My suggestion would be:

http://www.need-4-speed.com/pst.htm

PST-1400R 2003-2004 4V Mustang Cobra w/ IRS "Race" Driveshaft $799.99

This is the one with the upgraded 1350 joints, I will probably go through Need rather than PST direct. $799 is easier to swallow :pepper:

The "race" shaft is the only choice for the 03-04 Cobra and that shaft requires the upgraded pinion yoke at an additional cost of $99. May be we can contact need about a GP?
