So, there's been a lot of firearm talk going on as of late here on the MACA forum (partly due to my own search for my first handgun). It seems that we have many avid and recreational shooters in the MACA.

I am going to try and organize a MACA "Day at the Range". This thread is to gauge the level of interest in such an event.

Here's my best guess at the moment as to how it would shape up:
WHERE: Freedom Armory in Glen Rock, PA
WHEN: 10-May-2008
WHAT: Shooting of all different types of weapons (as brought by the MACA members attending; allows handguns, rifles and shotguns as long as they are using slugs)

So, post on up if you'd be interested in such an event.

Could this be done at a range that has rentals? I would be interested but do not own a gun. Think I would like to follow in your footsteps Sean. Try a few models out and see what fits me best.

On Target in Severn Md. is a decent range, everthing works properly and the lighting is good, and they also have rentals. They have a nice sized showroom, for anyone looking to purchase a gun. I'm not sure about shooting shotguns and rifles. I've never seen it, but that doesn't mean you can't shoot them there.

How about freedomarmory.com, one of the best on the east coast, handguns, shot guns, rifles, rentals and .................full autos!!!

I hate md gun laws, if this is to far for you guys, try to find one that you can bring your own ammo and targets, it will be alot cheaper.

I am in. I need ear and eye protection. I would also like to find other stuff for my gun like grip laser sites or something cool. since I got the thing for free, I wouldn't mind putting a little extra into it. I would like a case as well that can be locked.

Sean, Cory, help me out. hehehe

I have the S&W Model 669 if that means anything.

the NRA range is alot better. the place rocks.

Which NRA range? I selected Gilbert's just because I know you can shoot everything (handguns, rifles, shotguns w/ slugs). Only downside is that you must buy ammunition from them.

+1

i dont have a gun, but i would like to go and try.

As Jon said, Gilbert's Indoor Range has a nice variety of rentals, including full autos.

I shot at On Target on Sunday with my new H&K. They do not allow rifles or shotguns (I asked).

Yea, as I said, there are 2 downsides to Gilberts: 1) you have to buy the ammunition you shoot from them; 2) They require the purchase of a 'weekly membership' at a cost of $30. Plus, they make you sit down and watch a safety video.

Lots of hoops and not very cheap.

Jason - I bought a pair of customized Oakley M Frames for eye protection. I also bought a pair of [ame=http://www.amazon.com/PELTOR-Bullseye-Ultimate-Hearing-Protector/dp/B000GX3UY4]Peltor Bullseye Ultimate 10 earmuffs[/ame], which are ultra quiet (30 NRR).

Id much rather use my own amo... Id be in depending on location...

I can easily appreciate that. A 100rd box of mid-grade ammo from Walmart is $28. I'm sure a 50rd box is like $21 or something at this place.

Still open to suggestions. Sounds like we should check into this Freedom Armory place in PA. Got any more info?

Check out this site for the laser grips. Very good product, reasonable prices.

membership is $18 a year, any caliber, any ammo (shot guns must be slugs)

Freedom Armory FTW. Sounds like they let you shoot your own ammo, their price for range time is cheaper and they will let you shoot all weapon types.

If that's the case, then we're settled. My only concern is some of the souther MD guys will have a long drive.

Interested
