I think that they look decent and the new AWD is insane. My next DD this winter is going to be a evo 9 or 05 Sti. Can't hate on a car with a stock motor running 10's

the more I'm reading about the 4B11, the more I'm appreciating it...mahle rods, timing chain, beefier wrist pins, etc...I used to be bothered by the alum block and semi open deck...but why worry if you're not going for 1000hp...I wouldn't doubt if this motor could handle 600hp reliably...

although if you wanted 1000hp for a 4 banger, the 4G63 is the way to go...

Doubt it's full interior those mo fo's weight in near 2 tons.
I honestly don't see the big deal w/ this, when there have been cars that cost less and have less mods in the 10's

we all know evo 8's and 9's are solid...being solid in the 10's for an evo 10 is recent news...finally, a little potential w/ this evo...and I will be in the market for a DD soon so it gets me excited...

downplaying a 10 sec pass in a 4 banger makes people look silly...

what more can there be w/ the mods...stock motor, fuel, upgraded turbo, tuning software, clutch...there's not really much to question...people were just waiting on the potential of this new evo...the light is finally shining through...

Dunno about the evo 10's... I saw one at the track with some boltons running mid to low 13... then ended up shattering something in the drivetrain off the line.. Considering the way it was revving I can only assume it was the 5spd gsr version and not the 6spd semi-auto.

I don't see the EVO 8's and 9's doing that although by boy just got rid of an evo 9 that was nothing but a headache for him.. he had rear differential slap and under 1500 miles on takeoff, and shattered the shift linkage under 7k.

Not taking anything away from them, but im pretty sure the car the original poster brought up isn't a simple turbo swap away, its a heavy car that would need some drivetrain reinforcement for coming out the gate like that over time.

I know the heavy hitter evo 8's and 9's usually swap out to an $800 built tranny and from what dave buscher claims stock axles too...this X may have done similar...my original post was meant to show case that this is stock motor...I wasn't after the drivetrain in my OP...just the overall potential of the new motor...

here's dave buscher's street car evo's latest attempt at 8's w/ the mentioned drive train set up...so close:

My wife just picked up an MR, and it is is much peppier (stock) than my 8 was, even with the weight. I am taking it up to Chicago and getting the full prep done soon, hopefull before christmas when we go back to her brothers, who has a built S4.
