Guys w/ this clutch, how's it holding up? I've heard the good and one bad on this forum...
how was the install?

I'll be driving this clutch daily so I'd like to hear about the street manners...

Great if its installed correctly.

You have to be more particular about installing, and adjusting a TD than you do with a SD, as theres an extra clutch disc, and a friction plate to take up space so everything needs to be setup correctly as there's not much room to play with.

When I first had mine installed it wouldn't fully disengage or go into reverse without cutting the car off or slamming it. The problem turned out to be the pressure plate was torqued down unevenly.

If you have any problems call and talk to Lee at McLeod.(Lee specifically) He will help you figure it out, as he understand very well how these clutches work on Mustangs. Basically he is McLeods Mustang guy.

Make sure you get the ceramic discs and not the organic discs. This is the recommended discs from Lee anyway, but the organic discs burn way too easily. Not when they are fully engaged, but while in mid engagement. I originally installed one disc backwards, which affected the pickup point, but when installed right, it worked alot better. It took 500+ miles to stop the chatter, and I had to put in the freeplay mod to get rid of alittle slack at the top of the pedal travel. Overall, I like it alot. The pedal is crazy light and it has no problems holding my power levels.

The RST is an organic disc clutch. Organic disc's are typical viewed as more streetable while Ceramic disks are better for holding big power. Still the RST is rated to 800 lb-ft which is more than my car will ever see I'm sure, and the RST is noticably less expensive than the RXT.

I will admit that the organic disc's in the RST don't liked to be clutched too much without starting to smell a little bit.

guys, when did you purchase your Mcleod's? I think Teal Terminator purchased more recently (i could be wrong) and he said it was as straightforward as a single...I've heard the newer ones may be a little more plug and play...the only problem he encountered was not initially install the adjustable pivot ball...

would you guys do the mcleods all over again???

I do NOT have an adjustable ball, I didn't need it. I will still go RXT next time, actually, I will probably have my discs/pp rebuilt when need be for $350 and just use the ceramic discs. Mcleod/Lee told me that the ceramics are just as streetable.

I have the newest version, and it is very easy to install. I would do it again.

is there any way to tell if an adjustable ball is not (or is) needed prior to bolting up the tranny...I only want to install this tranny once hopefully, any tips to make sure that happens...i would hate to keep dropping it to get it adjusted properly...or maybe the new versions work perfectly w/ the stock ball???

The only person I know of on that here that had this clutch B/F me was "Younggun04." I bought mine well B/F Lethal was even selling them. I bought most of the supporting mods for it from Lethal though, and a few from Summit.

You will more than likely need an Adjustable Pivot Ball it just not a guarrenteed thing. Most people need them, but some don't. I didn't buy one to start out, and then ended up needing one.

I would just get the adjustable pivot ball its only like $13. I made the mistake of not doing the first time and had to pull the tranny again.

I have the RXT and and it is as streetable as the stocker. No chatter at all and holds like a mofo. I took my time and broke it in with 500 stop and go miles before I ever got in the boost. I installed my own and it was a pita but well worth the trouble.

I have had both the RST and RXT clutches. My RST only lasted 3000 miles before it was cooked. It doesn't like to be slipped AT ALL. Sent it away and upgraded it to ceramic discs and 26 spline. I was harder on the RXT than the RST this season and it still grabbing hard after 5000 miles and never has it smelt like clutch. I have done lots on street driving and many trips to the track on ET streets. I am very happy with the RXT but like others have said don't bother with the organic discs.
