I'm on a very limited budget and I was wondering what you guys would rather have, an SN95 Cobra Coupe or an Edge GT and why?

I always liked the exterior lines on the SN95 Cobras, but I like the interior on the new edge, as well as the motor/trans/IRS (03-04 Cobras). My ideal would be an SN95 Cobra with a full swap from an 03-04 Cobra.

New Edge. I just like 'em better. Mach 1's are getting very reasonable in price...

Mach 1's and Termis are WAYYYY out of budget. I'd be looking at a 99-02 GT with higher miles as well.

If you don't have a lot of money to spend I would guess, you would be also looking for a lower mileage car also? or you don't care how many miles it has?

I don't think mileage is as big of an issue as most make it out to be. I'd take a religiously maintained clean car with 120k on it over a neglected one with 50k...

I'd rather have a 96 Cobra coupe with 100k on it than a 98 GT with 50k...

If it's in good shape why not. Now 140-160k is a bit much. 100-130k isn't so bad to me.

if you dont have alot to spend then get the newest car you can with the lowest miles thats in good condition. no need to risk it with a high mile car just to say you have a cobra and then it break on you.

What is your budget? I've seen Mach 1's as low as $11k, whereas a Terminator is still in the high teens-low 20s.

Cobra. get a 94-95 cobra. they can be found CHEAP. Pushrod motors can last a long time, those early 4.6's are oil burning sloths from what i have seen.

I had a 96 Cobra and I loved that thing. It was a toss up getting rid of that or my 98 GT. The Cobra lost based on the GT's sentimental value. I would take my old Cobra over a new edge GT any day of the week.

New edge GT and toss in some 4-valve heads.

I just think the interior and exterior of the '99-'04 period was the best looking Mustang made.

In fact, I think what I would like, and am going to have to build, will be GT with a Cobra IRS and Cobra DOHC 4-valve aluminum engine.

Get a 2001 GT Bullitt, seriously.

sn95 hands down.

faster and more potential, looks better..

and you get the privilege of saying you own a cobra :p

If he gets an 01 Bullitt, the SN-95 Cobra is only marginally faster, stock vs stock.

New Edge. I just like 'em better. Mach 1's are getting very reasonable in price...

+1, Mach's are very reasonable in price now.

1989-1993 mustang GT

looks better, cheap to build, and a nice one can be found for under 5k

and are also insane maintenance hogs. I daily drove two different fox bodies over a period of 3-4 years, I'll never do it again. Daily driving a fox body is the worst idea in the world.

Cobra. get a 94-95 cobra. they can be found CHEAP. Pushrod motors can last a long time, those early 4.6's are oil burning sloths from what i have seen.

My '96 Cobra consumed quite a bit of oil. I always had to add at least a quart of oil or two between oil changes.

I had a 96 Cobra and I loved that thing. It was a toss up getting rid of that or my 98 GT. The Cobra lost based on the GT's sentimental value. I would take my old Cobra over a new edge GT any day of the week.

I had a 96 Cobra and it wouldn't keep cool for anything, but then again I live in a state that gets really hot weather. Stupid ford for releasing a cooling TSB instead of a recall :bash:

I ditched my '96 Cobra for my '01 Bullitt without thinking twice about it. IMO, the new edge body style looks better. I don't know what it is about the interior but for some reason my '01 Bullitt interior rattles way less than my SN95 Cobra did. My SN95 was a horrible rattle trap.

For all around town kind of driving, I found that my Bullitt was more fun to drive then the Cobra. The 2v Bullitt has more usable low end torque and is more fun to drive around town. Everytime I drove the Cobra I had to rev the piss out of it just to be able to have fun with the car. I had 4.30's on my Cobra too and it still didn't make up for the serious lack of low end torque on the 96-98 Cobras.

I'd suggest picking up a 2001 Bullitt, you can find them for under 10k now and are tons better than a standard GT. It has the better seats, cobra brakes, sub frame connectors, better intake than the standard GT, underdrive pullies, and better springs/shocks. There just wasn't any comparison between my 1996 Cobra and my 2001 Bullitt. For the type of driving that I do, the Bullitt is just a better all around car hands down.
