Has anyone out there used the ZOOM D2, yet? Like others, I've been looking into a twin-disc setup. The stock T/O bearing decided to give up the ghost, so I'm making sure I have a replacement clutch setup ready.

Is it true that the exhaust can stay installed, when removing the trans? Does this go for an aftermarket exhaust? I say it look like it's possible. But, I'm not sure. Any tips?

Well I'll be installing headers on my Cobra after Christmas and I plan to address the clutch issue at the same time. I've had some other RAM users tell me to just change out the steel bushings for the ceramic ones (the clutch kit comes with both) and the noise will go away. However, I only want to go through this ordeal one more time (we had the tranny in-and-out of the car 5 or 6 times during the initial install) so I'm somewhat reluctant to leave the RAM setup in the car.

I'm still leaning toward a SPEC dual disc, but am also considering a McLeod RXT while reusing the RAM aluminum flywheel that came with the clutch kit.

Decisions, decisions...

Well I pulled the trigger this weekend and bought a new SPEC SS Trim dual disc clutch. I just couldn't take the racket from the RAM clutch anymore. :cuss:

I'll be installing the new clutch along with my headers over the holidays. I can't wait!

Got your own Christmas presents, already, huh? I have a Zoom D2 (Factor 2) coming, myself. I can't abide by the old T/O bearing making it's noise. I should have it in before Christmas.

Keep us updated on the spec ss. I'm very interested in this clutch also.

Well, the clutch arrived last week and it certainly has the look of a high quality part:

You could probably use it on the space shuttle if it only had a transmission...:lol1:

I installed my Zoom D2 Factor 2, last weekend. Good thing I did. The stock clutch setup had about enough of me. The Zoom D2 is a good unit. The center crank alignment hole tolerances are tight. I had a little trouble installing the flywheel. But, I think the crank was warmer than the flywheel. Otherwise, it's a good piece. I've had none of the rattling noises. It chatters, when I don't get the throttle/clutch timing just right.

Looks good...post how the install goes.

The install was incredibly simple. The flywheel bolted up with the factory torque specs. Then the clutch assembly (inner disc, floater plate, outer disc, and pressure) bolted up with 6 bolts that were torques to 25-30 lb-ft. The next step was to install the transmission.

It was MUCH easier than installing the RAM dual-disc. It required trimming the TOB sleeve, replacing the pivot ball, modifying the clutch fork, and multiple adjustments to the pivot ball (which meant pulling the tranny each time).

That's how easy mine was. Just a different clutch kit. It came with everything but the throw-out bearing. I did have to disconnect my cat-back, because I don't have stock exhaust. But, still quite easy.

Did you have to remove one of you long-tube headers to get the trans out?

We were worried about that very same thing so we actually pulled the tranny, changed out the clutch, and reinstalled the tranny BEFORE we installed the passenger side header...:lol1:

Did you install a new TOB sleeve and stock pivot ball?
