How do I stop my car from running lean?

What is your idle speed at when it's idling good? My suggestion: up the idle speed another 50 rpm.

My car was similar to what you are describing until I upped the rpm just slight. I think it idles about 750 rpm, which isn't too unreasonable considering the cam.

My idle RPM is already set pretty high, it idles good sometimes round 850 id say, and then sometimes it idles at 1000, it kind of fluctuates, its pretty weird.

BUT I drove it all day today, and it was idling pretty good, I mean it would idle fine, and then sometimes it would not be, it shut off on me twice making a turn

Reminds me of a bone-stock 89' hatch I had. Did the same thing......there was actually a recall on this issue. Had something to do with the TB and IAC building up carbon IIRC.

Anyway, I hope the new MAF fixes the problem. Let us know what happens with that. After 5 pages, I'm dying to know.:??:

Alright, the Pro-M MAF came in today, and let me just say, as soon as I put it on there was a difference, it idles great now, its not performing as well as I'd like, but I'm gonna mess with the timing, and get everything set where it will do what I want, hopefully it will stay this way and not start acting up again!

Cool, I'm glad that took care of it for you. Bump the timing up to about 14 degrees and you should be good to go.
