+1, it's an 03 cobra that the previous owner switched some parts on the fly. If that Engine bay tag was from the original owner, it has his name on it, try to look him up and ask questions.

There are a bunch of reasons the parts could have been replaced, but I would bet the original chassis was an 03-04 Cobra. It is next to impossible to switch that with the DMV.

The car could have been a theft recovery, it could have been in a wreck etc. and the original owner simply sourced some cheap 99-01 parts as replacements.

I agree, it would be nearly impossible to just swap out vin# and not have the DMV catch it. Especially if the carfax came back clean with similar mileage as stated from the dealer. Did the carfax come back with a clean title?

To the OP do you have any other documentation, build date, # of cobra, ect?

According to the VIN it's absolutely an '03 Cobra. It is not a 10th though. It originally came with light grey seats, the machined 5 star cobra wheels. It's listed as black (correct). The top is correct, it's just dirty.

It's legit, but someone's done some "customizing".

Hope you got it cheap.

Looks legit, are there any other hidden vin tags on these cars?

Stamped on the cowling under the dash. You have to pull the dash to see it though. That's the only other one I know of. There might be a buck tag in the front, but I might be thinking of the foxes.

Pull the dash? You mean its not sitting flush with the spot in the windsheild? Could of been an interior swap...I would be leary of that man

Well If you havent seen the car then how do you know it has a 5 speed in it the dumb car salesman probably doesnt have a clue if it is a 6,5, or 4 speed in the car.

you don't know its a T-45, could be a tko500 or tko600, you'll really have to look under the car - built 5 speeds are much cheaper than built t-56s.

Eh?

The VIN is not part of the dash. It's riveted to the metal cowling at the base of the windshield for all to see. The VIN is also stamped into the sheetmetal of the cowling under the dash. You won't see this unless you pull the dash out and inspect the sheetmetal cowling behind the dash (not the dash itself). The VIN is also on the information label on the drivers door jamb (shown in the pictures).

This car is clearly a Cobra. Verified by the VIN shown in numerous pictures. It has all the Cobra parts. Aside from the 5 speed, which was obviously swapped in at some point, why does anyone think it's not a cobra?

Theres no way thats a t45, how much other shit would have to be changed to make a t45 work in that car? Cause I know putting a t56 in my car which originally had a t45 was not as simple as, unbolt t45, install t56.

I can't believe nobody has said this.

Instead of asking your brother if it was a 5-speed or not...

As him the location of Reverse.

Ask if Reverse is "over and up" being full right and forward; 1-position over from 5th gear.

OR

Is Reverse "over and down" being full right and pull back; 1-position over from what he thinks is 4th.
