Just as an FYI for you, IRS assemblies have not sold for $1,400 for more than two years!

It's more like $800-$900 now!
hmmm... 800 for irs... + your mod... math much?

Digital you gotta be kidding me! Youre bashing him in this thread and supporting him in another?

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/terminator-talk-229/657899-irs-drag-racing.html

Make up your mind

Someone asked how to make the irs better, I never said ACs kit was not good and i recommend it to anyone who wants to keep the IRS, try to read, you obviously are having trouble formulating a response.
I dislike ACs marketing and underhanded approach to selling his product. He can be a complete ass and still make a good product, has nothing to do with each other.
The difference is you idiots are coming into a thread where someone asked how a solid is and if people liked it and you're saying he needs to stay irs and upgrade it and solid is shit etc when you havent even done it.
I'm going into a thread where a guy is wanting to keep the irs and upgrade it and giving him advice on how to do just that.
Comprehend much?

Ok, let's all call a truce here once and for all.

We've all learned one thing in this thread. SRA people are just as passionate about thier opinions as IRS people.

I think it is important for people to gather as much information as they can before they make any modification to their vehicle no matter how trivial or significant the mod may be.

I will agree with this :beer: This debate will go on forever and ever no matter what. Just like which blower is better, Whipple or KB.

Well... after 5 pages of that, I think I'll be sticking with my IRS. I wanted to do the swap for weight and reliablility but I also don't see the benefit of an even swap for a solid and having to spend more money to have it function to the level that my IRS already does (in the areas I'm concerned with.) I don't ever track my car and I enjoy a good handling, comfortable ride. Not saying that a solid can't be comfortable.

I use to own a '01 GT and it rode fine, and now the cobra and she runs fine. Now it was some time since driving the GT so I won't sit here and say that one felt better than the other [because I honestly cant remember] but for my purpose, I cant really see why I would need to swap.

Well, maybe I can... here's my question:

I plan on spraying my car with a 100 shot, hoping to end up somewhere around 620-650hp and God knows how much torque [coming on progressively of course], so with that power, would I be risking breaking half shafts or whatever else? Its mainly going to be used for highway... I can't see myself needing it down low from a light.

Forgot to update you guys on the SRA swap.
It was done almost two weeks ago now and I love it! the car hooks awesome on the street and still rides and handles great. I wanted to thank everyone on here for your opinions and help with the process. Everything went smoothly

Here are some pics while the car was on the hoist

Thanks guys

Here is a little vid of the first day at the track. It was super cold and a big side wind but I managed to make a best 60 foot of 1.67 with the sway bar on

i got a sra bumpy ride ? you should ride in a new shelbys they ride like crap

i got 50/50 lakewoods ,but have eibach drag lauch springs with right side air bag. picked up .6 seconds 0-60
mine is not bumpy , and it still handles great in and out of traffic ''just ask my wife'' LOL

On the street mine rides the same as it used to if not better since I raised the car about an inch ( it was slammed with the IRS and cut springs)
there is a tint bit difference on corners when your going fast and bumps but it's hardly noticable.
I'm also running 90/10's and 50/50's with eibach drag launch springs and stock GT sprigs in the rear

anybody that says a built sra rides and feels better or even the same as an irs is full of ****!

i had bruces kit on my last cobra... it is the biggest thing i miss from my last car. car rides like a slammed truck. my last car handled, and drove like a super car!

Ha ha Jeremy! :-D I wouldn't say they're full of ****, I'd say they don't know any better or are simply unable to tell the difference! ;-):poke::p

I have just completed a solid axle swap on my Cobra. I used to have a built IRS in my other car and loved it. That car was taken from me and I didn't want to spend all of the same money over again with the IRS so I went to a SRA on this car. It seems to ride fine and handle fine. The ride isn't as smooth as an IRS car but it definitely isn't like a horse buggy ride either. I'm glad I did the swap because I am more of a drag racer than a road racer. I would say if you want to road race keep the IRS. If you want to drag race go SRA.

Yes I am a Vette lover because they are my absolute favorite car to pass on the track. You'd never catch me in one unless one of my students has one and I HAVE to ride in it. :rollseyes

I'm sort of getting tired of passing the lowly C5-Z06's and find the C6-Z06's much more entertaining when passing them with an IRS equipped Mustang on the track! :p

Still waiting for my first victim in a ZR-1!!! :dancenana: Not too many of them on track yet. :(
