lool.....the last few gt's iv ran i put football fields on.....stock cobras will not walk me as hard as i pull on gt's not even close:shrug:...bottom line is stock 03-04 cobras do around 12.80's a 5 speed mach with 4.10's a set of drag radials and a half awake driver will do 12.80's..of course every car and every race is different..

a similarly modded coyote run low 12's to high 11's. 300A car of course.

I dont know...I just do not see a 3.73 gear, an X- pipe and a tune bringing the new 5.0 down a whole second in the 1/4. We are talking about a N/A setup and not FI. I can see making small mods to a turbo or supercharged car by bringing up the boost..just don't see that kind of gain from an N/A setup without heads, cam(s) or nitrous.
Whatever the situation was with the OPs race, I am sure that eventually I will get to run a new 5.0. If he puts 6 lengths on me, it might be time to get a Procharger.

plenty of times out there for you to see. lots of 11 second tune/ exhaust / DR's automatic coyote's out there. lots of 12.0 tune/exhaustDR's M6 coyote's too. wait till fall cool weather.

12.3 is average for a bone stock DR's coyote in a decent DA, with some better than that.

the 2011gt is a breeze to powershift. heck even without powershifting i can shift lightning quick., and the motor responds by pulling like hell in the next gear.

That is what will make boytie boys cry... all these amazing track times the 5.0 is putting up are during 'record' heat waves this summer. This fall some serious 'wtf' / 'bullshit' moments are going to happen. Can't wait.

good kill but i don't beleive the 5 or 6 car lenth i would beleive 2 or 3 best!!! stock 03 cobra would beat a stock mach1 by 1 or 2 cars..your saying the new 5.0 would put 4 or 5 car lenths on a stock cobra no way!!!

You're joking right? A stock 03/04 Cobra would walk the sh!t out of Mach 1 by 4+ cars.

From a Dig, 03/04 Cobra vs '11 5.0 GT is a drivers race. From a roll, STOCK for STOCK, my money is on an 03/04 Cobra. Mid Range hp/tq FTW!

I agree. Some 03/04 cobra's make damn near 390 rwhp so even though they weigh a little more it will edge the 5.0 out. Both cars respond very well to a tune so even if they were both tuned the 03/04 will(should) win.

Also on the highway, the new 2011 5.0 GT's inferior aerodynamics (.38 c/d) will help offset it's weight advantage when compared to an 03/04 Cobra (.34 c/d).

Or get rid of those baby cams.

im not worried about a stock 5.0 with the way i got my mach set up (from a dig anyway) but just a few mods on one and im looking at taillights!!! you know the old saying "if you cant beat-em join-em....i may have to do just that the more and more i see how great of a car it is.

Just put a 5.0 coyote motor in your Mach, then you'll have 2 advantages over the new 5.0, weight and aerodynamics.

Thanks for the props guys

The new 5.0 is a very impressive car. I've taken several guys (owners of good running cars) for rides or let them drive my car. They have all been VERY surprised at how well the car runs with only an x-pipe, K&N, and 93 octane tune!!

I've got a Flowmaster 'Hushpower' axleback on the way and I'm going to delete the resonators while doing the install. I'm waiting on the release of the JLT CAI and then a final re-tune for those mods and off to the 1/4 mile dragstrip this fall as the weather gets cooler and see what kind of times I can run with it.

Wow..I guess they run better than I thought. I did not realize they ran that good . I thought it was going to be similar to the Camaro SS hype. Than I see the SS running the 1/8 at 8.4 and 85mph. I just do not like believing the hype until I see it. People have a way of always shaving off time from their ETs and adding mph to their trap. Time will tell when more and more of these are out on the streets and the track. Out of curoisity..can anyone give me an approximate 1/4 time and trap of a stock 3.73 GT? It might be time for at least some FR500 cams or Procharger.

The new 5.0 is a mean machine! I can't till someone in Knoxville brings one to the track. I'd like to see how my 4:30 geared Mach would do against one in the 1/8th mile.
Everybody must be broke down here because I haven't seen one 5.0 yet.

Go with the Procharger if you don't care how you make your power. And FR500s are relatively mild when it comes to N/A cams.

It really depends. There is roughly 60lbs+ to be added just in options from a base GT to a premium with brembos, navigation, glass roof, etc...Not to mention the rotational weight brembos and 19inch wheels add.

Anywhere from 12.5s to 13.0s @ 110-113mph I'd say.. Depending on track conditions, driver, weather, etc. MM&FF ran a 12.6 in below average conditions, not at the usual atco or MIR in negative DA conditions, so that goes to show the possibilities..

That's about right. I ran 12.7@110 mph with our car bone stock (tires and all) on a hot day here in West Palm Beach.
